Great information.  I agree, looking at cars and push vehicles in the background is as much fun as the subject vehicle.  I looked through the shots, and I don't see another photo with the FG Ferre truck.  But, I did find another nice photo of Yeakel's roadster.  I also took a quick glance through the program we have from 1955 and didn't find Ferre's name anywhere.  Also, check out this old 'Vette...

I think I see the Glass Slipper in one of those photos?

I was expecting that observation from someone older  yea in front of the vett [maybe] :-)

The Glass Slipper is in the NHRA Museum. Neat looking car and a lot of history!

Here's a better shot of the car you're referring to, I belive this is the Glass Slipper...it certainly looks like a glass slipper!  The hood says Capitol Speed Shop, Sacramento, California.  The unique bike to the car's right front says Bulmer on the tank.

Was there a canopy over the driver's opening on the Glass Slipper, or did it race open cockpit?

Wildcat,
I believe the bike with the name Bulmer on the tank was Lloyd Bulmer's  ~1950 350cc Velocette and that it held Bonneville records in the gas and fuel class  around 1953/1955.

The one that I've seen has a canopy. Maybe it use to run open cockpit before and changed later? Might have to wait for Glen on this one.

The glass slipper ran with the canopy at the salt and at the drags strip. They also ran for FIA records on the salt. I very beautiful car and a great bunch of racers.

#148 C/A is indeed a Graham, It was raced by Ken Logan, my brother Mike and I. The entry name was "Scavengers Car Club". It had a 354" injected Chrysler in it and ran 157.89 MPH.

Thanx for the enlightenment. I always liked the car and wondered. Now, directly from the source some 50 years later I have the answer.

Again, thanx.............

Burly,
Do you have any more photos of it? I have none from Bonneville only drags and construction.

I keep seeing the two-wheel trailers and get scared just looking at them.

Yeah and it was pretty amazing what we took with us and survived. The towing speeds were about 30 to 40mph making it a long trip even from Los Angeles.

Good to meet you.............

I thnk you're right, Glen, as the group from '55 still gather at my shop occasionally, and laugh to this day about their trip to Bonneville.  All of the practical jokes, tricks, etc.. played on one another during the trip.  Part of the crew was in the service, they took leave from their base in Texas and showed up in the pickup shown below, the balance left Indiana in the '50 Olds Coupe, shown here Rabbit Ears Pass.  I know my dad said he left with $26 in his pocket.  Slept in roadside parks, and then in an empty hangar down at the air force base durng speedweek.  Great stuff.
