296 3-window

i liked it much better in blue!

i never knew his partner, but i did know tom hutchinson; he taught me the "art" of bench-racing!

he also gave me a lot of parts.

those rear magnesium halibrands, for instance; those are mine!

very similar to lattin & gillette, they not only raced flatheads and small block fords they also set records.

i know they had at least one record in e/ (i think it was gas) coupe & sedan; pretty sure they had at least one x record.

according to the picture, they were running a blown (what tom used to call) "fathead"!

i cannot remember if they were running a blower on the little 260 or not, the poor little thing.

for some reason i think i remember they were more successful running the "fathead" than they were the small block.

Good old STP.  No one I knew used the stuff, but we all had STP stickers.  I had one on my skateboard.

Speaking of photos -- since that's what the thread is about -- I'm in the process of putting together a show for the local Engineers Club - where Nancy and I will do a presentation this Wednesday.

How the heck am I supposed to pick out 100 photos - from the thousands I've got?  Man-o-man, what a task - shall I show this one, with the driver's compartment of the Burkland car, to show how crowded yet carefully thought out things are -- or shall I show that photo of George Field's Trackmaster with the front wheel tubs?  And on and on.  I've got 132 in the folder right now - and I think I'll just let 'em rip at random instead of trying to sort -- just too danged many.

And then there's the projector.  I got a brand-new Epson EX31 to display the photos - and can't make it work with the Apple computers.  Heck, when I first started trying to hook it up - and had to call Epson's help line because I couldn't find the correct cable in the box -- I got Sanjay (or maybe it was Rashid, I don't remember) and after ten minutes of hemming and hawing he admitted that he didn't know how to hook the projector to an Apple, and why don't I call Apple's help line?

So I did, and eventually got the correct cables (I think).  But today's the first time I've tried hooking up the 'puter to the projector - and nothing makes it through the little wire into the projector.  Crap!

Stay tuned.  If I don't throw the whole shootin' match out into the snow I'll let you know when I get it running.
