It looks like Lufkin's car behind EELCO.

Number 400 is Neil Thompson.

FREUD

that's the 'liner that mel chastain was driving when he was almost killed in 1970.

It's amazing how we all overloaded two-wheel trailers and are here to talk about it.

Dads Stude, didnt set any records but looked nice

it sure was a beauty!

is this the same stude' that we ran in 1971?

here's the pic you shot of me inside the engine compartment when we had to change oil between record runs.

it was so difficult to take off the firewall so we could get to the oil filler tube that i got really stiff... my body not... well... never mind.

i think it was steve and maybe jive ass who picked me up and stuffed me face-first between the fender-well and engine, handing me one quart of oil at a time.

since we're talking about the b&n bad guy crew, they were all telling me there wasn't enough time to get me out.  so, they were going to close the hood and if i heard any rods knocking around i should bang on the firewall to let duane know the click it off. :-o :-o

Silver (natural metal) #360 lakester was indeed a Markley. Tony Baron had it for a while and sold it. It is now in Huntington Beach and been up graded to current specs. Has a blown flathead in it.. May come back..who knows............

Doesn't John Swanson own it now? I think he was the one who bought it off Tony quite awhile ago. Glad it is still around.

lvsalt...I really enjoy these old Bonneville pictures. They bring back so many memories. I am responding to the Corvette #246 B/G...is Geisler, Lindsley & Pate. (Bruce Geisler & Jim Lindsley, 1967 I think). That is my  pink roadster in the background, I am in the seat and wife Margaret standing along side.
I don't understand..."It won't work!"

The #360 lakester had a bird cage chassis and was told to Tony he would have to up grade it to the current tube size for the roll cage etc. As I recall he didn't want to do the up grade. I think John Swanson still has it will check with Jack Underwood and find out a little more. Love the history, great memories.

What's neat about a thread like this it brings out a few of us old guys that were lucky to have grown up with the sport and were on the salt or the lakes when much of it was happening. The photos trigger a lot of forgotten cars and people. Digging into my files brings back many memories. A lot of people like Skip Higgenbotham that has raced for a long time and is currently running a streamliner that was designed for 3 engines and 4 wheel drive. As you can imagine there is a lot to it. Many others that visit the site have a wealth of information like Monte, Jim Dincau, Wester, Freud and many others. We are the lucky ones and sharing things with you makes us feel good.
The pictures that Gary has taken a lot of time to post is having a ball as well to the response he is getting. LSR is special and this web site is a history book happening.

Jack Underwood said that the belly tank is updated and just setting in Swanson's garage. Don't know what the plans are for now. At least it's still around.

The EELCO liner in the photo is not the one in the Stateline Casino.  This car in the photo is in the Speedway Motors, Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, NE.

Calkins, my wife and I went through it about 6 years ago. It was not quite complete but we got a private tour. What a lucky day and a must see by any racer of any motorsport. A wonderful collection.
