Are those battery boxes next to the drivers cockpit?

They were probally used to "blow" the parachute cover off after a run. If you look at the rear view you can see the the parachute is covered with a aerodynamic cover that was blown off with a shotgun charge after a pass. I'm sure we'll soon find out if I'm right.

These are some of the best vintage pictures I've ever seen of the Goldenrod. More if you can please.

One of my Customers just turned up with the remains of the Bodywork from Gary Richards bike (yyes, the one in your pic, Doc....)last year. Managed to talk to Gary at the LA Roadster show last year. He said they cut the bike up in the seventies and sold the Triumphs to a Drag Bike Racer...He couldn`t recall who though....Wish I could have got Gary to open up a bit more about those days, but I couldn`t make the time to try to do that....

Really enjoy the old pics and "chatter" .  Wanted to go to Bonneville since early teens, finally made it in `05. Now my son and I have our own car 242 F/BFMR.  Just doesn`t get any better than this.

When Gary stepped out of the bike after his return record run, they found out that the frame was broken.

But the Kid made it work anyhow.

He stopped right in front of me.

I'd rather spin it on the salt than on the street.  Of course, that's where I do most of my spinning.
