Barnyard Bearcat is off the push truck and going up the course - pit end to mountain end.  Through the two.

Through the four and entering the timed stretch.

Entry speed   292.8   kilo   297.9   mile 297.7   exit  302.1

Sounds like he needs to back up a few hundred yards for his start.

Jamie Williams will not make a return run on this morning's pass.  May go to the pits and install bodywork and then try another run -- we'll find out soon.

Bearcat has not come to a stop yet.  Remember, he put a new fuel pump in the car last night and might need some tuning to get it dialed in.  He ran close to his 300 target -- maybe another run after a tweaking will do it.

Not much wind -- 1-3 in no particular direction.

Photos from last year.  Out at the timing trailer where the great engine noises come whooshing through to break the usual ominous silence on the salt pan.  Jeff (Trimmers) during a slow time one day on the Cook's Shootout 2011 other race, the informal human powered vehicle un-timed trials.  I certainly would have liked to be back there this year.  Maybe next time.

Big thanks to Mike & Mike Jr., and that whole group of folks running the meet.  So many runs of bikes hitting big numbers, so many cars doing the same.  This is nothing short of fantastic.

Max:
We missed seeing you!  Will you be out for WF this year?

Knapp is in the Bearcat and just about reay to run.

Remember that if he manages a 300+ run he'll likely turnaround as quickly as possible to make that into a down run.  Got that?  Course is clear.  Knapp is about to run.

Sounds like he's got the engines running, course is clear.

Through the two, heading to the timed stretch -- pretty soon.

Slowing?    174.1 entry speed, shut down, chute out at the six.  Exit speed 135 or so.  Full stop at the 4 3/4.

That's it for now.  Nancy and I are going to leave the salt for a few minutes to head to town to drop the trailer and check out of the motel.  We'll be back as soon as we can.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Steve Strupp is sitting in the red Camaro, just getting ready to run.  Jamie is about 90 minutes from another run.  I dunno what Knapp and Watters are gonna do.  I think Kim may try one more, byt that's conjecture.

Another chute in the mile.  Steve shut it off early.  Nothing scheduled to run for a hour or so.

Wow, looks like Jim really dumped the front end of the 'liner.  It's usually pretty high up in the air.

Go gettem Jim!
