Albert Einstein - "Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results."

That's my opinion of the electric bike. If they are making changes it sure ain't doin nuttin.
Might just be joy riding. Fast company to be joy riding with!

Yeah, Lee Kennedy does that all day long in his pickup :-D

The electric bike made another run -- entry 99.8   kilo  99.0   mile  99.8

I suppose that at those speeds an extra tenth makes a big difference.  Whatever - -

Waiting for Speed Demon, but right now busy chasing unauthorised vehicles off the salt.

George Poteet is suited up and getting ready to run the Speed Demon.

George is in the car now - his next run is imminent.  Course is locked down, flies being shooed out of the cockpit, engine is now running.

Canopy is down, and this note:  They're hoping/planning a 400+ mph run.

Car is off the truck, vehicle is accelerating (as usual).

Through the 10 mile  at the nine, chute is out.

George reports that "something let go".  He's slowing and support vehicles are moving to him.

George called in to the pits -- the engine was pulling hard, running right up to and on the rev limiter, and quit pulling.  Iam told him - we'll get it back in the pits, download the data, and then make a decision.

Electric bike is ready any time, but will keep it plugged into the charger 'til he gets close to his time limit.  The Camaros will run next after him, and Steve is now warming the engines.  Electric bike now says they'll run him in about 15 minutes - 10.30 am.  Post.

Well, that's all for the Speed Demon for this meet.  The engine suffered catastrophic failure.  I don't have permission from the team to tell you any more right now, but think of it as one rod going a different direction from the other three, spitting debris here and there.  I'll make sure it's okay to tell you the rest (the team hasn't finished the post mortem), but I do know that they're going to pack up and go home now.  There's a meeting scheduled with the various riders and drivers for 5PM - and Speed Demon plans to be represented there - and that'll be the lasat thing for them.  Heck, they might even move the meeting to earlier this afternoon.

Did I tell you that Steve is doing a quick investigation under the right side rocker arm cover?  He heard a "shouldn't be there" noise while running the engine and using his high-zoot stethoscope (18" screwdriver and his ear hard on the handle).  He's now warming the engine again, so it must have been nothing - or an easy fix.

Electric bike is ready to run again, moving into starting position.  Coupla minutes.  Jim Knapp ready in about 40 minutes, he said ten seconds ago when he was here.

Bike #27 - Zero bike, Brandon Miller up, has a clear track is is waiting for the "go" from Charles Hennekam.

After the run I'll tell you the latest from Jim Knapp, Al Lamb, and Greg Waters.

On his way now.  Starting at the eight and running to the 4 -- although he won't go that far.

Entry speed  97.56   kilo   101.19    mile  100.52    exit  101

Delay in posting -- had to chase an unauthorised spectator that snuck in on the frontage road.
