Wind speed comparison:

7:49, speed 7 to 10 mph at the timing stand.

8:21, speed right around 1 mph, same lotion.

It's dropped a whole lot.

Al Lamb, on bike 1979, is under way from the mountain end toward the pits.  He ran a best of 257 entry speed yesterday, slowing as he proceeded through the measured section.  Today he runs - -

Entry speed 257.4   kilo  259.3   mile  258.4   exit 256.8

That's it for right now - will letcha know when somebody is about ready to run.

Gonna need a new refresh key!

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Question, did they have to add ballest weight to this bike for that speed???

Jamie is going to run his return run.  Wind is less than 1 at the four mile - Jamie will start at the 3 and is heading north, toward the mountains.  1 mph along the rest of the course, too.

Rider is getting on the #969 bike, and engine is running.   Bike is under way.

Through the four (riding toward higher numbers).  Through the file, entering timed stretch.

Entry speed  207   kilo  209.3   mile  208.7

Previous run was a set of 210 mph runs.  Gee, that makes it not fast enough for the mile, and only a handful of thousandths to go the for the kilo.

Yup -- I see them in their pit - but not much activity so far.

Al Lamb is readying for his run, engine is running, course is clear and locked down.

Speed Demon engine is running, although Ron Main made a run to Carquest for important stuff -- brake cleaner and shop towels.

Al Lamb and bike are under way.

We can hear him going through the gears here in the pit -- even though he's a couple of miles up the course  Wind isn't too strong yet, hunh?

Through the four mile, now the five, now entering the timed stretch.

Entry 252.7   kilo  254.4   mile 254.3

That's down four or five mph from his down run.  I'll get averages if they give 'em to us -- or if I can get my fingers and toes working to do the math.

Jim Knapp and the Barnyard Bearcat has just rolled into the pits.

It's about 9.15 AM out here.  Speed Demon is buttoned up, and the engine has been warmed.  They say they'll be ready to load the car on the transporter in a few minutes and then leave the pits for the long tow to the north end of the course (about 12 miles) in ten minutes.  Taking the car off the rig and setting up for a run will take another 15-30 minutes - - so expect a run from the #715 within an hour.  Get some work done - it's Monday and if you work hard right now the boss might not notice you goofing off in front of the computer later in the day.

Updated update:  Speed Demon is iced and on the transporter and ready to move down to the start line.

Rice Vigeant has announced their intentions to run after Speed Demon.  If SD qualifies R/V will wait 'til the return run has ended, or if SD decided not to return -- R/V will run immediately after the SD first run.  R/V will run from about the 2 mile, at the pit end of the course, toward the mountains.
