We've got one more run today -- Kim will make a return run on her turbo 750.

Steve Strupp made a partial pass in the red #757 Camaro - just another test and tuneup run.  He's prepping the cars for WF.  Good thing he's doing the prep - part of the right inner fender came loose.  Better to have it happen during a test than during a run.

Speed Demon is running the 4-cylinder "Dodge" engine now.  I suppose it's a warmup and then tune in preparation for tomorrow morning's first runs.  No, I don't have any idea of what time things are to get underway in the morning -- will sooner or later find out and let you know.

nice runs everyone..!!! especially Mr. Knapp....nice job finding another
20-30 mph...!!!

question on the "red hat" Bonneville 200 mph club for R-V, if the SCTA equivalent
is around 227 mph or so...who decides if 205 FIA makes it into the club...?

i ask out of ignorance, i could be off on the minimums etc,  i recall folks at BUB's
setting FIM so called world records that were way under the SCTA minimum and
they did not make it into the Bonn. 2 club...

Joe... Bub's is the 201 club. No affiliation.

Joe, that sounds like a question for Dan Warner, not me.  He's busy right now -- at the 4 mile as a course watcher.

Kim Krebs is at the 10 mile and about to make her return run.  It'll be the last run of the day -- which means we can head for the showers and supper.  It's been a long day - got here at 6.30 AM - and it'll feel great to get horizontal later on.

She's under way - can hear the engine winding, via the FM at the tower.  Sounds okay from here.

At the seven mile, at the six.  Entry 235.128   kilo  235.5   mile   235.5   exit  235.735

Dang, that's nice.  224 on her earlier run.  This one oughta be great for her record.

Bike is at the four and slowing.  Clear of the course at the three mile, still rolling, moving slowly.

I don't think anyone has to qualify at this event.

All they have to do is get a better average MPH than the existing record.

Their first run can be under the record and if they are far enough above the record

on the return run and their average exceeds the prior record they have a new record.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Did the FIA and FIM revert to SCTA/BNI procedure?

Since callipygous is not in the dictionary and I have no access to the dictionary of present day vernacular

would you please let me in on the "secret language" that includes callipygous.

Is it a useful word in 2012?

Freud, I believe the FIA record need to be a percentage over the exsisting record not just .001, not sure for FIM. Dan would need to answer the 200 MPH club questions....Remember it's the Bonneville 200 MPH club not the SCTA, USFRA, Shootout, etc 200 MPH Club.

I do not know what class the RV car would fall under comparing FIA to SCTA. I would assume they are separate and I have no idea whether minimums were ever given to FIA and FIM.......Fun Reading especially hearing what Jim Knapp did...................JD

It's callipyginous, I think.  Nope, spell check doesn't like it that way, either.

235.128   235.575   235.521   exit  235.735   Unofficial average is about 229.7

Freud, you['re right that there isn't a "qualifier" per se.  The vehicle rider/driver is welcome to go at whatever speed he wishes and ask for a return, hoping that the second run will be fast enough to yield an average over the record.

But - at the speed things are happening on this here keyboard -- and with the way that most of the folks on this Forum are used to hearing about record runs -- I decided to use "down" or "qualifying" for the first run and "return" or "backup" for the second run.

And on another similar point -- this morning Brandon Miller on the Zero (electric) bike -- made four runs in a row.  Assuming that all four were fast enough, he could have used any two (sequential) runs for his record average.  As it turned out he used runs #1 and #2.  But the idea is that the driver/rider may continue making runs 'til he and the officials decide they've had enough.

Last car running tonight is the Jack Rogers #673 '68 Camaro.

Dennis -- security at Land's End -- the gravel-voiced guy - built himself quite the security vehicle.  I took photos -- will post them later on.  The Zero electric bike is planning to run again.

Ray, around here "donk" is the same as callipygous.

I found the word.

callipygous — adj

   having beautifully shaped buttocks

[from Greek kallipugos,  epithet of a statue of Aphrodite, from calli-  + pugē  buttocks]

I doubt I'll use it again.  But then ya never know.  And it's been an awful long day.

Holy buttocks, Batman, that little gem created a whole lotta momentary interest.  If we could get as much effort put into getting rid of the flies out her...well, we wouldn't have any frikkin flies out here!
