Reading here what's needed to do 400+mph makes me appreciate a (relatively) low-buck, self-made Hot rodder like Al Teague even more!

I am wondering about the split rear wheel drive on Knapps car. what happens if a chain breaks on one drive wheel. will it steer it?
Rear wheel centers are about 12" apart. Outside of car IIRC is 22" wide. I don't think one spinning, one not would produce much turning force.

The "hole" on the end is a dimple. They look like they were on the end of a 1/2" dia. rod. The end away from the dimple is rolled over to give a radius to the end. The dimple was to attach it. Unless the other side has solder marks I doubt if they were electrical, more like the protective end of something.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Can anyone tell me what is traveling in the rubber hoses inside the cockpit of Jim's multi-engine liner?

Those pieces look almost like commutator/brushes.  Does it or has it ever had an in tank fuel pump?

The amount of grooming this year may have ground a lot more fine salt/dust.

Looks like 2013 will be be a good year for number of vehicles and even higher numbers through the traps.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Question -- what are the entry fees or requirements to run this event in 2013?  And the dates for 2013 are?  Thx.

I'm a little behind (or a big one) but here are some photos:

A couple of Al Lamb's bike; one coming off the trailer and the other after undressing and before bathing.

Then there's Sparky's bike and a shot with Sparky hisself (Brandon Miller.)

My two pence worth on FOD.

Not sure why those pieces should be in a fuel tank but they look like the ends of a high tension cable (or plug lead) that fits into and grips the cable point in a distributor cap. Yes one of those things that has a rotor arm and points (possibly made by Lucas)!

I would say they are foreign objects and might not have 'occured' naturally or even by accident.

The pieces are flat stock, maybe .015 - .020 thick, bent into a slight concave shape on the width, but straight/flat on the length.  More after I report on the Barnyard Bearcat that's about to run.

Engine is running, car will start about the 1 1/2.  Nancy and I are at the timing stand to see Jim go by at full steam - so the times will be just a bit delayed.  We get to watch for a change! :-D :-D

First of all, Knapp just ran through the lights at 302 kilo, 301 mile.  I'll get exact figures in a while.  But wow, what a whoooosh!  Fun -- wish I'd seen more runs.

Entry   297.94     Kilo  302.04     mile   301.88    exit  305.40

That'll do, won't it?  Oughta get him his unlimited license.  Now - a quick return run.  He didn't use his chute, I hear, and I'll guess it's to make the turnaround quicker.

Electric bike has now set a record over 100 mph.  It's not only an FIM but also AMA records.
