First things first:  The bikes of Lamb and Williams are on the trailer and about to go to the 2 mile (or so) for their return runs.  Most likely they'll start in 15 - 20 minutes.  There's less than 45 minutes left on the 2-hour window for the first of 'em.

Rice/Vigeant is having trouble with the Power Commander - not allowing reprogramming of the ignition map.  They want to spray but won't without having adjustment for the spark timing.  They're either looking for some PC3 parts or a PC2 complete.  I believe the PC3 just does not allow the ignition adjust - but still, they're hoping to find something for the 3.  I suggested they call Scott Horner in SLC (well, Sandy, Utah) - don't know if they have.

Glen, which vehicle are asking about the bearing, engine, chassis?

Congratulations to Al Lamb and his team for running a 250 plus on a 1000cc bike. What makes it more impressive is Al has taken the path of most resistance by racing a Honda in a sea of Suzukis. Good for him and his team showing that hard work and dilegence pays off

I see the post now.  I'll ask soon.

In the meantime, the bikes are down the course to their chosen starting points.  About 25 minutes remain on the window.  Jamie Williams will run first.  FIM Charlie is in position with the Lamb bike, and Drew is at the 8 and in place to catch both bikes.

Bikes are still in transit to the start point.  Maybe 5 minutes 'til they are on the salt (off the trailer, that is).

Penny!  Do you think OZ will let me in for Gairdner if I bring dry weather?

Glen, I'll call you after awhile about W Finals, if you'd like to take turns being a spectator AND doing a few things on the new audio equipment.

Ray, your photos are making my day, thanks.  On the other hand, I have come to expect our quick typing leader, Slim, to save us from no audio.  Thanks to you, too.

Okey-dokey.  The 969 bike is ready to run - Jamie at the helm.  He's away from the line.  Post and continue.

Through the five mile   entry 207   kilo  207   mile 207   exit  206.8

Will get specific speeds later.  In the meantime Charlie is moving to Al Lamb's bike to start him.  Al needs to get his run completed within the next 27  minutes.

Ray's napping or something, so as soon as Lamb makes his run I'll meander over to the Knapp trailer and see if I can get inside to take a photo.  The car is still in there -- not on the salt and in the sun.

Jamie Williams and crew are off the track now -- over on the BNI course so that Al can make his run.  Williams averaged about 209 1/2 both kilo and mile -- don't know the old record on which he was running.

Lamb is ready to run, course is clear, he's off the line and on the way.  Post and return.

Through the four and entering the timed mile.

Entry 252   kilo  256   mile  255

That'll put him in the mid-253 mph average.  I'll soon get the exact numbers.  Still don't have the old record he ran on.

Entry   252.2   kilo 256.3   mile  255.3  exit  255.1

If the R/V car is running a Hayabusa motor a PC3 will not support ignition timing without an add on module. But have them visit Greg Watters over in the bike pits. They are running a program on the stock ECUs that allow timing changes, called ECU Editor. Greg is one of the guys who has done a lot of work developing the program.

Ditto on the Knapp engine pics.
Fitting engines, drive, exhaust, etc for three motors. . .

I remember a twin Triumph streamliner from the 70's. It was a particularly horrible example.
The carbs from the front motor were piped over the back motor and carbs.

They put the liner on rollers to start the engines. The guy has his two sons put the canopy on.
It was quite the show to watch them pushing and yanking on the canopy to get it latched, all the while the guy is inside screaming at them to push here or there. Meanwhile the engines are over heating.

They finally get the cover latched, push him down course and he falls over 50 feet later.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Is it break time at the salt.
The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

Some photos from the Knapp trailer.

Inside the trailer it's very cramped and I wasn't able to get around to take photos from every angle.  It's hard to see inside, but Jim is pointing, with his little light, to the shaft that twisted.  It bent .025, and that's been straightened, and the 10-12 degree twist is still there - not harming anything.  Without seeing what shows up in the photo, the chains from left to right are rear engine, middle engine, front engine (inside the bearing block), and the drive to left wheel, drive to right wheel.  The wheel/tire combination weighs 55# each - so there's a lot of load to try to smooth when the tires bounce from a rough surface.

Hi\e says he'll be ready to run in 1 1/2 hours.  We'll see.  The SD transporter is in position to receive the car - but nothing's moving down there right now.  Betty (George's sister) just brought some beef and turkey sandwiches to our truck, so it's likely lunchtime in the SD pit, too.

I hear Greg warming a bike motor over there -- nothing else is going on.  I'll eat my sandwich now.
