Al Lamb qualified, so will probably return (probably?).  Assen might return, might not.  No word on the 715 car -- but it's wearing the nose body.  The trailer is hooked to the transport truck.  Further when I find information.  Gotta stay close to the radios when we're running - will go to 715 pit when I can get there. . . soon.

Looks like about 15-25 minutes 'til Al is ready to return run.  That'd make it about a quarter after the hour.

Hey - let's all thank Ray for the super photos of the incident.  Glad he was there - great photo documentation, hey?  Nice of him to give us a present for his birthday anniversary.

Next 4 from the "incident," mainly the fire trucks arriving on the scene.

We're getting ready for those return runs.  Al will be first, trying to back up that 242, and then Richard will ride it back to the pits to swap some bodywork.  Five minutes 'til lockdown.

Al Lamb is on the 1979 bike and starting the engine for his return run, trying to back up his 242 (on a 225 record).  Bike is on the move.

Through the two mile, did he shut it off (asks tower)?  bike is stopped at the 3 1/2.

Thank you for the BD wishes.

As far as the ok to publish, as far as I'm concerned, yes.  No serious injury, no sponsor conflicts, nothing negative...only very smart action on the part of the rider and very quick response by the fire crews.   Although it's unfortunate that Jamie blew the motor big time, the story is a "good news" one.

I talkecd with one of the crew Jamie's trailer -- and Ray, I think your on-the-scene comment -- "motor grenaded" was spot-on.  It was a bit more than a motor fire, I'd say -- what with pistons lying in the belly pan as of right now.

Al's aborted run was an electrical farkle of some kind -- Reese, in his pit, just headed to Al's bike with the laptop to re-set the ECU and get the bike ready to run (better).  The 2-hour window is still open and Charlie and Drew agree that the work is acceptable without jeopardising the status of the run(s).  If they can get it done and the bike through the last light in the next half hour or so -- it's still a legal return run.

Poteet and main have the new 299 inch engine in the car and are close to ready to test start and run it.  They'll then proceed to running -- maybe one hour or more, but they're moving ahead with plans to run more.

Gee, maybe the event will stay exciting right through the end of it, hey?

Assen and crew and bike are back in the pit to swap bodywork.
