Leslie's 1976 bike is warming up at the mountain end of the track.  Sorry about that typo -- Richard did not go 2259, I'm sure -- I wouldn't have been able to see it if he did.  Now you're gonna complain about my typos, hey?  I'm trying -- but sitting sidesaddle isn't the best typing position.

Bike 1976 is underway.

Through the three and accelerating.  Through the four, getting to the measured stretch.

Entry speed   slowing?    entry speed 170.7   kilo  174.9  mile  175.8  bike doesn't sound good per the tower.

She's back in the pits.  I'll be moving the truck for a minute or two.  Back soon.

My delayed start will be filed under the "no good deed goes unpunished" category.  Was ready to follow the fire & ambulance out and catch it all, did someone a quick favor, which I do not regret, emergency vehicles left for the tower, course went to lockdown and only the kind action of Dave Petrelli vouching for me got me out to the FIM start line for the bike starts, then out to the tower.  The great circle route.  Such is life.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Early morning photos:

Speed Demon's driveshaft....they must use stronger stuff than I did with my car...it's not all twisted up.  :)

They've used their spare rear end.  I can't remember the make/model/etc. of the spare.

If I remember correctly, this rear end broke after the 1-2 shift on its first and (so far) only run last year.

A view of "Freeway Lake" at the end of the pits.  It's REALLY slippery on the mud in that area.

More in the next post (shots of the Ack Attack.)

Andy and Erin will run next -- engine is started.  By the way -- I hear she rode solo this morning, but for sure it's the two of 'em for this run.  Bike is under way.  Through the four mile, entering timed area.

Entry 182.7   kilo   182.7  mile 182.7  exit 182.7

Consistency rules!  Richard will be next -- a couple of minutes for Andy and Erin to clear the course back to the pits.

Richard Assen, bike #519, is ready to run return run from mountain to pits.  Will run any minute now.

The 519 is under way and sounding strong as it leaves the mountain end, per Drew Gatewood (AMA steward working at that end of the course right now).

Through the two mile.  Through the four mile.  Entering timed area.   246.0  entry speed,       kilo 249.2  mile 249.1 mph

How 'bout, Jon, if they were going exactly the same speed for the timed stretch?  In cruise, so to speak.

Here's the story of what's what for the next runs:

Nish is trailering to the mountain end and will run next.  They started the motor in the pits -- sounded good, and yes, I'll accept the number that's being bandied about -- they're running about 20% in the tank, so says my nose and eyes.

Anyway, Nish will run first, mountain end to pit and perhaps back and nobody else will run 'til they've either qualified and returned or decided not to run more.  Then Charles Nearburg and the 1122 Spirit of Rett will do the same routine -- run towards the pits and return and nobody else will run 'til he's done with his set of runs.  Then -- the Speed Demon #715 will have the course for the same thing.

It'll be a while 'til more happens, to go do some work and keep the boss happy.  I'll try to let you know well in advance when it's time to take your next landracing.com break.

Speakiong of the three decimal points, Glen, the tower isn't reporting them to us.  I'm typing what Rice tells us.  I expect I could get them -- but for the sake of getting the numbers out quickly I haven't pestered James.
