Are there any pictures of the damage on the ack streamliner.

Mike Akatiff and Mike Cook Jr. have both stated that they don't want the photos of damage posted.

REALLY??? Do they know that ship has sailed?

What do they expect to achieve by hiding the crash damage? Try to make it not happen?

The crash DID happen. It's an instructive lesson that on a low speed test the worst can, and did happen.

Are they going to ask for these posts to be retracted too???
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Back with you, folks.  We're getting ready to run the bikes.  We'll first run the BMW ("#2 bike").  It's now on course and ready to go.  Leslie and Al are trailering the 1976 Leslie bike towards the bike start line.

BMW is at the 8 (a/k/a 3 mile on the way towards the freeway) and moving.  Through the 7, entering the timed mile.

Entry 178.7   kilo speed 180.7  mile  180.5  exit speed 181.

Next up will be Al Lamb.  He's on the bike, with Charlie on duty, at the 1 1/2.  Wind is mild enough, so they'll launch him in a minute per Charlie.  Bike is moving.  Through the two mile, accelerating through the three.

Running on a 225 record.

Speeds:  Entry  203   kilo  210.4  mile 209.8  exit 213.  The bike is a turbo 1000 cc. Honda.

Salt is now unlocked -- maybe 15 minutes until the Speed Demon can run.

Liner photos:

Mike Nish on his first run.  He aborted because he couldn't see his instruments nor shift light.  He (imo) made the right decision and shut down before something got hurt.

Three photos of Nearburg's Spirit of Rett:

Down run, Turnaround (which went smoothly) and the end of the return with the chute out.  It's gettin a little hot here so there's some heat distortion in the last shot.

As an aside, photographers are being asked to stay at least 1000 feet from the course.

Next vehicle to run will be George Poteet in the Speed Demon, #715.  He's in the car at the mountain end of the course.  Locking down the salt now.  Back in a minute or two -- gotta go clear the pits.

Nothing moving, ready to start the car, support truck for the #715 is at the 6 mile and waiting.  Course is clear, winds are mild to nil.  Speed Demon car is running, canopy is closing.

Speed Demon is now moving on the course.  Pushing off, off the truck.  Car is under way and moving fast.

On course at the nine/two.    Eight mile.

Entry 452  kilo 458  mile 457  exit 462

I got those speeds right, folks!  I'll give you exact numbers once the tower repeats them.  Speed Demon is being pushed from where he stopped, at the 3/4, into the pit.  They lost a pilot chute - will use a spare rather than try to find and replace the one that blew off during the run.
