BMW is on the course.  Entering timing trap   155.4 entry,  kilo 154.8   mile 154.2  Still don't know who's driving.

Erin was driving, Andy riding, and they're back in the pits.
they say they were looking for a 150 - 155 run.  As it was ERin's first two-up pass on this bike, and on this salty mud surface -- they wanted to stay around the 150 range.

We're on a half-hour lunch break.  C U soon.

Junior Cook was saying (over a burger from the Enola Gay Cafe, about which subject I'll have more in a few lines), that George Poteet was cookin at about 380 in 4th gear -- when he noticed the smoke in the cockpit and shit down/pulled the chute.  Tghe crew then realized that there was a new access into the cockpit and that allowed some smoke - maybe from a turbo wrap or something - that George noted.  Please -- I heard this from Junior and I might not have reported the absolute correct stuff since it is now third-hand.  They're thrashing in the pit now, hope to have the Speed Demon on the trailer soon, and then soon head down for another try.

At Speedweek George ran 426 with a 4/5 shift at 371. Sounds like a 450 run is coming!
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Richard Assen is on the way down to the start, and Andy and Erin (Erin steering) are just this minute riding out of the pits and to the position where they start.  Poteet and Main car is on the trailer and moving down course.

AMA Drew Gatewood and FIM Charlie are on the way to the start area (a couple of miles down from here), as are the two bikes.  44 minutes left for Assen to make his return run.

Poteet and Main will run right after the bikes complete their runs.  Nearburg is in the pit with some bodywork off the car.

About one minute 'til lockdown for the bikes.  Wind is zero at the tower right now, ranging from zero to about five over the last hour.

While we wait, thanks to Top One Oil for lunch vouchers for crew and workers and officials.  The Enola Gay Cafe is set up out here for food, and Top One has been kind enough to buy lunches for us all for the entire week.  Thanks - and for those of you at home -- thank them when you can, as you can.  We appreciate it.

Oh, yeah - and Loctite is out here again this year.  I don't see quite as much free swag as they handed out last year, but they do have a booth set up and are stocked with product and souvenirs.

Jamie Wagner's "hauler."  He told me that he bought it as "something that had been in a movie."  I guess you could say it'd "been in a movie."  :)

If I'd looked at the front of the thing I would have known and not had to search my web site.

Also Jamie's bike "naked" (in a sense) without any stickers on it.

Leslie Porterfield and a crewmember getting one of her bikes out of the trailer.

Salt is now being locked down.  Bike 519/Assen will run first, heading from about the three mile towards Floating Island.

Hey, did I tell you that we've got the audio streaming stuff going?  I think others did -- but it's working.  Max ixs in the tower with James Rice, and you'll hear now only the CB and the FM but also some chatter in the tower.

Assen in moving up the course.

On the course, gaining speed.  Entering timed stretch.  Through five,  entry speed  257.4   kilo  229, mile 234.  Tower reports he got a bit loose in the middle and had to back out.  Sure enough - -  He's still riding, but slowing and out of the timed stretch, through the eight.

He's off the course by Dan Warner's position.  Will run Erin and Andy in a minute or so.  Still locked down.

BMW is starting the motor now.  Bike is on course.  Entering the two mile. heading for the three.

Through the three, Erin is driving and Andy is sittin' in the back seat.

Entering the timed stretch:  entry speed 172.4   kilo  172.0   mile  172.1

Speed Demon recovery truck is moving to the 6 mile - center of the course -- so the car can run.  It'll take a minute or two to get things rearranged, so hang on, go to the bathroom, we'll be ready to run in a few minutes.
