Back to racing, fans.  Drew is ready to send Al on the 1979 bike.  Course is secure, bike is running, bike is under way.

On course at the eight.  Running on a 225 record, down run was 242.  Through the 7, nearing the timed stretch.

Entry speed 241   kilo  240.5  mile not reported.  That'll back it up, for sure -- pending cert.

Bike has stopped at the 3 1/4 (from the pits).  Speeds:    240.549  kilo  240.919 mile

Many thanks for the great coverage guys! I had planned to be there but my Dodge truck puked!  :-o [BTW: It's a Dakota!]

Instead I got to stay home with the flu but did get to see Joe and Keith get approved for the Ohio Mile!  :-)

Happy Birthday Ray! Another Ray - Martha Raye always said, "Birthdays are great, but too many of them will kill you!"  :-D

Al's record averages:  kilo  241.819,  mile 241.918.  Pending certification, but Drew's at the pit now to measure and seal the engine.

I hear the Poteet and Main car running - first time with the new motor.  Good sound.

I can see a need for a SFI Titanium Catchers Cup.
Unfortunatley, some of you bike riders have to big of balls to potect.............. :-D
Anyway, it look's like everyone did a great job of responding, and I am glad the piston ended up in the pan, and didn't go up...........    Bob

Just in case you might have wondered what Jamie's bike looked like when it wasn't burning, here's a shot of it about 30 minutes before its untimely demise.

Tiny, I think that is only true in the event of a tragedy.
Last year at Speedweek I was pitted near Stringfellow and Kirk and the carnage of their car was trailered back to their pit.                 Bob

Poteet and Main car is on the trailer and being readied to move to the far end of the course.  Leslie Porterfield is preparing for a run, which'll happen before the Speed Demon car runs.  Sorta like a race to the start line?

IF Speed Demon runs -- it'll be at least an hour from now.

Speed Demon has left the pits and is trailering to the far end.  Leslie is about to leave the pits to the 1 1/2 for a run - will ride the bike down, not trailer it.  Engine running, warming, starting to move.
