That first pic is great. You know GP is giving that young fellow some great advice. He should listen to every word that he says.

Young Andy has a couple of go cart championships under his belt already.  Offered to trade me $5 and a Nish t-shirt for my 2-speed Kettler peddle car, which I declined, but let him burn off energy with it as needed.  Very sharp and polite young man.

Maybe Ron should replace the drive shaft between runs, seems to be a very weak link. Just a thought.

Look at the picture in reply 169 of this thread. Blow up the picture of the drive shaft. It speaks volumes.

Still not sure of the full extent of the damages to the Speed Demon.  Main told me that the data showed George had about 5/8th throttle and the motor was spinning at 9100 rpm.  Shall we guess that's an instant after the drive train let go?  I asked - they don't yet know - if it's the drive train PLUS or what.  He says they're hoping it's the motor that's broken because then they would have evidently solved the drive train troubles.

Yeah, whatever -- they're digging around in the rear of the car now - looks like getting ready to pull the differential.  Ken Duttweiler and others were loosening the turbo cluster - might just be to get working room.

Nothing yet from Nish, and no bikes are in line to run.  But - we haven't yet called it quits for the day.

4.30 local time at the Bonneville Salt Flats - and Mike Cook reports we're done for the day - no more runs.  And no unofficial runs, either.

Tom, the de acceleration is probably almost as hard as the acceleration. To think of what the yokes are doing would be great to see with a high speed camera likes NHRA has been using showing rod caps coming out of the engine.

Tom, the de acceleration is probably almost as hard as the acceleration. To think of what the yokes are doing would be great to see with a high speed camera likes NHRA has been using showing rod caps coming out of the engine.

Glen, I agree that would be a great place to put a camera. With the HP and TQ they claim to have combined with T/C it has to be extremely hard on the drive shaft. It will be interesting to see what failed in the run.

Hey, this isn't good -- the Nish car is done for the meet.  Terry still uses the words "We've got some issues" when talking about the motor.  The Nearburg car motor is dead so they're done for the event.  The Ack Attack bike is out and gone from the salt for the event.  And the Speed Demon is changing transmission and drive shaft.  So - we're down to one car and four or five sit-on bikes.  Gee -- hope things hold on for at least another day so we can get Nancy's runs in and give her a chance.

I know the bike riders have got a minor issue -- in that the length of the course has given them reason to start part way down.  But - some want to start at the 1 1/2, some at the two, some at the three -- and shades of the Bub event, things get out of control.  We'll be having a meeting tonight to try to get back on the same page.

That's enough -- going to find out about the meeting.
