Morning Speed Demon report?

Bike 1979 on course at the 8 and slowing.  Rider is Al Lamb, I believe -- oughta be smiling now, hey?

Next bike will be be Jamie Williams, bike 968.

Speed Demon is wrenching to get the 299 ci engine into the car and ready to run.  Last forecast was mid-morning today.

Bike 968 is running on a 216 record, bike is now rolling.

Into the five, big smoke reports course, bike is down, emergency rolling, rider jumped off and is on his feet, bike is on fire, rider is okay.

My bad on which direction.  The wife calls every morning to brow beat me when I should be taking care of details.

Bike 968 on course at the four mile, gaining speed, at the four, in high gear.

Bike made big smoke, bike is down, rider jumped off and is okay, fire is on scene, bike on fire, rider has helmet off.

Now reports fire is out, will do a course sweep, of course.  Fire is confirmed out.


All is on hold now 'til the incident is examined and mapped.  Down for at least fifteen minutes per tower right now.  Further will follow.  Warner reports first seeing smoke at about the 4 3/4, Junior is already there to start reconstructing.

Jamie is okay per Mike Cook.

Sorry for the pause -- had to be a course worker and deliver some oil dry to the scene of the incident.  Jamie's bike and crew are just now driving back to the pits, and we're beginning the lockdown for more runs.

Richard's next.  He's got the land speed Eagle tire on the rear of the bike - will test (and be pleased if he can qualify, but first is testing).  He said they were waiting when the 968 bike left for the trun.  Saw him leave, saw the puff of smoke -- and right away took of his helmet and figured (correctly) that it'd be a few minutes, at least.

Assen is ready to run on his bike #519.

Assen is under way.  Running on a 262 or so record -- but not necessarily trying to qualify.
