Ain't nobody here but us chickens.

The pits are gettin sorta deserted...see photos.

Some of the teams (Nearburg, Ack) have left, others (Poteet & Main, SSS & Nancy) are waiting for things to arrive from hither and yon (I think that's a local trucking company.)

I'll update when have more info.

Ray has summarised it well -- not much going on.  First of all, the four bikes are here at the 1 1/2 where it was decided at last night's riders meeting - that we'd start bikes.  The wind is calm -- but about 10 mph at the tower, so nobody is interested in running.  Dead calm here, at the 9 -- but breezy at the tower.

Poteet and Main are in the pit working -- didn't get to stop there for an update.  Nearburg's car is on the transporter and going home -- had troubles with the motor.  What was wrong with the new engine?  Maybe the rings didn't last -- started runing poorly during the first run the other day, but good enough to qualify.  Running less well on the return run, but good enough to back up the record.  Not good enough for any more runs, though./

Nish?  Had troubles from the very start of the event, got in that one partial run - to about 130 or so - and clicked it.  The engine is dead in the water (and the chassis, too), so they're done for the event.

Is there another car on the way here?  Hunh?  Maybe -- Lynda (Land's End Lynda) told us she had heard something, but 'til it arrives -- nothing further.

Bikes:  Nancy and I were disappointed to hear that the little Ninjette won't be here at first light this morning.  Issues at Heads Up getting the little thing going , so maybe later today it'll get sorted and show up.  Sure hope so -- so if nothing else we can get it running, try for the FIM record, and get in a tuneup for World Finals.

I'll click to post, add some photos and re-do.

Here's the set of bikes at the 1 1/2 this morning:

In case that photo didn't come out right, here's another:

I found this one from the other day.  Andy and Erin, having too much fun riding two-up.  I think they're done for this event, having proven that two can ride as fast as one (well, they were about 1 mph slowed two-up than either went as a solo), and showing that there might be a place for a new idea/event:

I work at private events, too -- not just SCTA-sanctioned ones:

Here comes the porta-potty choo-choo train:

We'll head back to the pits now and see what's going on with the Speed Demon.  Later. . . :-)

There's still wind out there -- but Mike's saying maybe we'll run in a half hour.  In the meantime, more glamour shots of the bikes -- this time sans riders.

Remember the "ravine" that I mentioned the other day?  It's a former drainage ditch - from the old days - that is a soft spot across the track at about the 3/4 mile.  It's a bump that's caused some headaches (and broken parts) during this event.  Here's a set of photos of it:

That's it for now -- gotta go be interviewed, X-rayed and ultra-violated (at least that's what Nancy calls it) for Jay.  Later. . .

Didn't I read that Nish was done for the event? The audio feed says he's in the car and about to run.

That was reported from Slim earlier. Anyway, glad to hear that they're still out there giving a go. Sure hope they get it sorted out, they sure deserve it.

Sorry, the power went out here and when it came back on my computer started the audio feed from Tuesday. No wonder I was sitting here confused wondering why Nish just ran and Nearburg was about to run. My bad.

We're here -- and running bikes.  Al Lamb, 1979 bike, is about to run.  Let's see if I can get some speeds.  He's running on a 225 record.

Leaving the line, at the two mile (remember, starting at the 1 1/2).  We can hear 'em from the pits -- can't see them, though.

Entry speed:  240.7   kilo  240.5   mile 240.3   Nice!!

1.5 mph tailwind at the 3 1/2 mile mark.  2 mph tailwind at the eight.  Next bike?

519 next -- Richard Assen, on a 252 record, starting the engine now.

Slim or Ray... any chance of pics of course at different miles especially the timed mile? :-D

This would give us an idea what kind of course these teams are [were] dealing with for now and prosperity.

Thanks again guys for the great reporting, broadcasting and pics.

Go Speed Demon....500 mph? :-o

Waiting for Assen to run.  In the meantime, Speed Demon has a newly-fixed transmission (cracked the case yesterday) and driveshaft -- waiting for a couple of $6 seals for it to arrive from SLC.

Assen under way.

Through the two, hearing some wheelspin.  Through the four, still lighting it up.

Entry speed   264.7   kilo  263.5  mile  263.5

Four bikes have run (missed the first two), and of the four -- three qualified.  I'll get speeds and bike numbers for the earlier ones.  In the meantime, expect about a half to one hour downtime.  I'll have the speeds for you later when they do return runs.

Leslie is the racer that didn't qualify earlier -- had a problem and will work on it.  Al Lamb qualified but chunked a tire, so he's back in the pit to change up.  But he might not be allowed to run on the qualifier with a new tire -- Charlie is considering and consulting on the situation.

Richard Assen will run his return run next -- maybe within about five minutes.  The wind is low right now and they're all anxious to get turned around.  Waiting for safety to get in place.  Locking down the area now.
