Jon,

The bike and Rocky are done for the event, even if Rocky felt OK Mike will not allow it to be run until the crew can pull it down and fully inspect it to deem it safe.  The will load up tomorrow and most likely leave tomorrow.  Rocky has some bruising already and is pretty sore however is being checked out to make certain he is fine.

From my call it sounds like he also hit some mud/wet stuff and it may not have been just the TC coming in..

Great to hear from the team that Rocky looks OK...live to race another day!

Again, they are done for the event..

Rock.......be patient. Mike will tell you the truth. You can't sway him. If it's OK you will run. If he isn't comfortable, You won't run.

This is no time for you to make a decision except to listen to him.

There's always tomorrow......even if it's a year from now.

Make it as easy on Tricia as you can.  She's your greatest supporter.

You have nothing to prove.

Get well faster.

Oh, no!!!  I'm sure some worse things could have happened, but I'm at a loss to put 'em into words.

Heal up soon, Rock.  There will be another day to race.

That is terrible news. Good news Rocky is Ok is the single most important part of it all. I know talking to Ack off and on a few times this last month they had their troubles. From the installation of a stand alone traction control system, to a whole new harness, to motor issues to weeks on the dyno they sure busted some butt getting things done to be there. We talked alot about the TC control system to the motor issues.

From what I have heard already sounds like more than just simply TC. It is much more complex situation then just using the words Traction Control. How was it setup, how was it controlling the motor if slippage was sensed? Was is taking fuel away, limiting boost or was it done by timing. Will be interesting to hear what Ack finds out.

Sorry to hear this.

What a shame. I'm glad to hear that Rocky is ok. Go home, regroup and come back swinging next year boys! And don't forget, you're still the fastest two wheeler in the world.

The first run of the morning is underway.  Erin Hunter riding, Andy passenger-ing, just left the pit end -- from the 1 1/2 mile.  Next will be Richard Assen.

Erin's time:  entry speed:  184.7    kilo   184.9  mile 185.0   Best run yet.  That's the two-up BMW, remember.  It's not an official class, but a number that'll be useful for BMW's marketing, for sure.

Assen will roll as soon as Erin and Andy are off the track - within a minute or so.  (Post)

Richard is warming the engine.  We're patrol by Land's End -- can see the bikes starting from the 1 1/2 -- can even hear 'em.  Nice for a change.

He's under way.  Accelerating well -- whoops, spun it up in second.

In fifth, sputtering a tad, spun it in fifth, in high gear, through the three.

Entry speed for Richard Assen   2259.3   kilo  254.1  mile  254.6

Next will be Leslie and Jamie running from the mountain.  We'll wait for some spectators and camera crews to move, then go.

Jamie will be next -- ten minutes or so.

Glen, we'll have to wait for Max to check in with his situation.

Rocky's wife just called -- he's in Wendover, sleeping off the pain killers.  He was in hospital and was treated to a ride in the cat scan.  Nothing broken -- but he's beat up pretty well.  There's a good chance that he'll visit the salt later today.  Rocky's okay -- but sleeping it off here in Wendover.

Jamie Williams is on the track, mountain to pits, right now.

Speeds for Williams:  entry  sounds like traction issues   speed:  entry   207.6   kilo   209.1  mile 208.9  Heads up in the pits -- sounds, according to tower, like he's on the throttle still.  Through the four/seven and now slowing.

One of the timing sensors has farkled according to Tower -- will be down for a few minutes while James visits and fixes.  Ever happen to you, Glen?

You know the black and blue hurts much worse the day after. Best wishes to Rocky.

Didn't I hear last year Mike Akatiff said it was his last.
The smell of 400 brought him back this year. I would hate to think they are done and done.

Jamie Wagner or Williams?

Something tells me that Richard Assen didn't have an entry speed of  2259.3
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.
