Poteet is in the car, the engine is running, the canopy is going down.  Course is locked down, ready for a run of the Speed Demon #715.

Car is moving on the push truck, now off the truck and roaring!

Through the 10 and the chute is out. Run aborted.

Some photos of Richard Assen:

Returning from one run,

Getting leathers on,

Bike on the trailer heading out to the course.  The way the course is (see last photo) cars and bikes are starting from about the 2.5 mile mark for their runs from the pit to the mountain end and it's hard to keep track of which run a team is on.

The photo of the mud flats shows why they're not starting there.  It's pretty messy and slippery...even on foot...at this end (pit.)

Poteet's run was aborted because the driver's air bottle wasn't turned on.  Oops.

Poteet will return to the start and try again.  Shouldn't be more than a few minutes.

Any reviews on what we are broadcasting from here at the timing stand?  We have the CB chatter, the FM radio announcements and the conversations in the area of the equipment.

Good, bad, informative?

Is anyone else having issues with the audio? I keep getting disconnected; tried both explorer and firefox, same result.

Speed Demon's support truck is moving up the couse to the half-way point -- where they stay during the launch of the car.  With that information it's safe to say we're within about five minutes or so of another attempt.

The Nish car and the Ack Attack bike are both in the pits and awaiting tomorrow.  Nearburg car is under an awning, bodywork still off.  Assen and Sills/Hunter down the course someplace - no information.  Ditto nothing new on Leslie Porterfield and Jamie Wagner.

It may drop on your computer if it's wanting to go into sleep mode.  While we got a late start, no glitches on the output (so far).

The FM is disturbing somewhat but not bad, it sounds good here in Sweden. I've been disconnected a couple of times.

George just ran -- as I was chasing an interloper.  439 entry, 442 kilo, shut down.

Sorry I missed part of that run, but a "spectator" car had been given permission to head to the pit from Land's End.  But he decided to start spiining donuts near the course -- while the Speed Demon was making the run.  I was closerst to go chase him down.

The word is that the Speed Demon has just run  entry  439, 442.8  442.8 mile  446 exit.  That's the fastest car for a Cook Land Speed Shootout\ and fastest piston engine car.

Sweeeettttt... Go George....

I guess Burklands will have to bring the car back out.... Hard to argue salt isn't good enough when a car does 439 mph....
