These are slightly off the mark. They aren't from Bonneville but recently someone wanted info about a front mount blower system.I didn't find that thread so I will post it here. This is the Mooneyes dragster from the Bakersfield March Meet. It's  a Potvin drive and this setup was done years ago. Fred Larsen probably arranged it. It's similar to the way the blower was on his streamliner.

Actually Fred built this dragster as a tribute to the dragsters of the 1970's.  It was shown in the Mooneyes booth at SEMA roughly nine years ago.  Fred built it in a matter of weeks to be as true to the time period as possible.  The blower drive is very likely the same setup as he had in his liner.  Their booth was just across from the HPC booth in the central hall.  We used the HPC location as a dumping ground for all the literature we had collected rather than haul it all around the convention halls.  He was asked to drive the car on a 1/8 mile run at Bakersfield and before the day was over he ended up going for the full 1/4 at a VERY respectable speed from what I was told.

IF  I have any shots of the Camaro, I don't remember them. If I stumble on it I'll post it.

When did it run?

Rex, I'll look to see if I can find a 1974 or '75 rule book to get the records for the 350 class.

The 1974  rule book shows the Orange crate as having the KS record at 142.693 mph set in 1967. The 1979  rule book shows Don Vesco setting the record in K/FS at 148.625 mph set in 1977

I don't have the rule books between 75 to 78

It's not a photo search -- but I guess this is as good a thread as any to look for information about a racer from the days gone past.  I received this at the world control board of landracing.com.  If anyone has any information on this racer -- please feel free to jump in and send it along to the lady.

This is an enquiry e-mail via http://www.landracing.com/ from:
Laura Short Santangelo <laura.santangelo@yahoo.com>

Hi, My Name is Laura-My dad is Jim Short and in 1964 went 201 mph-I'm looking for info. and pic's of this event. I have nothing to pass down to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. My dad was never one to collect and save. I may get a red cap every once and a while. Thank you for any help, Laura

Thanks, everyone...

I knew Jim Short. He drove the Paisano brothers Studibaker blown gas coupe. Below is a picture of the car in  1963, it is the orange car behind the 999 blue streamliner. I believe this was the first stock body car over 200 MPH.
