One of the Burma shave signs used to be on a curve on Dead Indian Road, Medford Ore. to Klamath Falls, Greensprings Hi-way,  it said......   Ben met Anna,  made a hit!  He wouldn't shave.... Ben Anna split.    I remember that from the late '50's.    Crow

Have a look at the way the sign was in early days. This could have been when they filmed a few years ago.

That's the sign they re-created for the filming of World's Fastest Indian.  The easy tip off is the base under the sign.  The early sign had a different base with wider bracing.  The early sign was located quite close to a ditch on the right side of the sign that paralleled the highway.  The access bridge from the highway crossed the ditch in front of the sign.  It also was oriented 90 degrees to the road, facing west instead of being parallel to the highway.  If you have Dean Batchelor's book "The American Hot Rod" there's a photo at the top of page 154 that shows the differences.  Under that there's a photo of Chet Herbert's twin Dodge powered streamliner from 1954.  I have a couple of shots of that same WFI sign, located near the end of the access road.  The food service catering for the extras was just on the other side of the access road for the WFI shoot.  I take a lot more pictures with a digital camera than I did with my 2 1/4 square format color film.  The final cost around fifty cents for each color shot transparency, there were twelve shots on a roll of film and it was sent to Drury Photocolor in San Francisco for processing.  At that time i earned 90 cents an hour.  When each roll of film takes almost a day's pay you are much more careful about the number of exposures you shoot.

Tom, one thing I know is that it has never been sold. I can not imagine it not being purchased.

It would be impossible to duplicate it for his asking price. I assure you. Every part of it was first class.

Nothing needed to be replaced and it could have been a roller for a realistic price.

Hume did the nose and all the new panels following the blower explosion that ballooned every panel.

I have no idea if it's still for sale.
