Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Thanks for the coverage....

Is Mike getting the bike off of the skids and onto the wheels?

Go Mike!

Yes, he did get the bike up onto the wheels after he built some speed.  Right now they're about to tow down to the middle of the track and try a run where they can go through the lights and get a speed.  They're still sitting in the pits -- but getting ready.

Buckeye Bullet still wrenching.

Saltmobile heading back to the pits.

Missile wrenching and eating lunch.

Camaro going to make a run soon, too.

Jet bike is about to make a short run from a standing start.  I'm on the way to town to get something for one of the teams at the hardware store -- will try to get a speed on the jet via the FM radio.  Sit tight without me for a few minutes, please.

Another shot of the saltmobile (I'm trying to find out its official name...it's Lamtrac G-Force One); I just wanna thank Freud for his help.  He saw something I was doing wrong in my photos and clued me in on how to make it better.  Big hug, Doc Freud!!!

The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

FIM Charlie just visited and said the saltmobile (well, really a snowmobile) is classed as -- ready for this? --

Snowmobile, partially streamlined, 1000 cc, forced induction.

That's it.

And it wasn't him, but his passenger in the car, that asked to see as much of Nancy's tattoos as was publicly acceptable.  She demurred -- I showed him mine.  He's sorry he asked. . .

The jet bike is about to make another run.  NO further information -- never did get a speed.

Okay -- jet made a pass.  They only time his "exit" speed, since they're only looking for ultimate numbers -- he ran about a mile and a half and went 169.222 mph.  Chute is out, bike is stopped, all's okay.

Warner and Cook are reporting that there are almost no noticeable tracks from the jet bike on the salt.  That's really good to hear.  Warner says he can see the right side groove from the rear wheel appears to have "hopped" a bit -- probably a result of the torque from the spinning motor pushing the left side down.

Buckeye Bullet is putting the driver in the vehicle now -- ready in maybe five minutes.

OSU reports starting the startup sequence.  Should run in a minute or two.

Vehicle is under way.

Looking good at the one mile, through the ten, through the nine.

Kilo and mile speed  both are 298 mph.

Entry 293,    kilo speed 298.898 mph    mile speed 298.776  mph      exit speed 303.574 mph.

They'll be ready for a return run in about 45 minutes.

Nice run!

SSS,

Did the rider of the 600 hp, 4 wheeled, rear tracked machine get in to the Bonneville 200mph club with his 2 passes that averaged just over 200mph?  I read that Dan had a Red hat ready for him..what was the record or the minimum required..?  Just to average 200.000  mph?

Anyone know ??
