If you came late to the party Denis Mannings #7 Bub liner with Chris Carr piloting set a new motorcycle absolute record.
Down run
362.742  entry

367.809  mile

367.953  kilo

372.534  exit

Return run
361.859 entry

367.164   kilo

366.956   mile

371.495   exit

The new record speeds are
367.382 mph in the mile
367.558 mph in the kilo.

And I guess I should have said WOW

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Racers race.  Commentators commentate.  Switch roles as you want, we'll be fine.

I thought I gave all of 'em to you, but just in case:

Down run:

entry   372.742

kilo    367.809

mile   367.953

exit    372.534

Return run:

entry    361.859

kilo    367.164

mile    366.956

exit   371.495

Averages:

367.382 mile

367.558 kilo

That's it for now -- we're shutting down and going home. I'll check the site later -- going to supper.  G'night.

Maybe we can get someone to do the play-by-play on a part-time basis.  If ya got an air card (cellular modem) and a laptop, that's about all ya need.  I'd suggest an inverter and a good battery, too.

Hey, MM:  Pork Pie couldn't take the jar of Milwaukee Midgets with him so they're gracing my fridge as a treasured memento.  :)

Ray, those pickles were meant to be eaten.  Enjoy 'em, share 'em with friends, and let Landspeed Lynda know that she missed out on her jar.

I'll bring more next year.  :-D

Did I tell you that on a run a while back -- the Bub bike went through one of the markers?  Here's a shot a photographer (don't know his name, sorry) just gave to me.  Not the best quality, durn it, but still not without redeeming qualities.

I finally got my lap top sorted out for wifi, so can finally log in --

That was my shot Jon, Hotrod here on the forum,  blackhorsephoto.net.

That is just a quick image grab out of the photo, and downsized for web usage, I should be able to print it at reasonable size, after I get home and have time to massage it in photoshop to bring up the contrast, and optimize it for printing.

The team went out to the banner and verified there was a tire track splitting the uprights, so it is exactly what it looks like.

Congratulations to the BUB team for the new record!

Yes -- Larry is the guy that gave me the photo.  He's sent me a note to joggle my elbow -- for not remembering that he donated some photos at Salt Talks, too.  So please give him the credit for that one and contact him if you want a decently-quality souvenir copy of it, just like you should be in touch with Ray the Rat to get copies of any of the photos that he's taken during the past two months of land speed racing (or his other racing adventures, too).  These photographers do their stuff so you can injoy the visuals -- and they need to pay for their cameras and time and everything, too.

Thanks to all for paying attention to the Shootout so far.  Tomorrow's the last day.  The Mormon Missile and the Buckeye Bullet should be ready to run in the morning, and the jet bike, too.  They're the three still running.  The Missile, by the way, won't have a clutch -- they'll start the engine with the trans in nuetral, push the car up to the sped the hope is right and dump it into first, then motor away and shift the Liberty with the air shifter and give 'er.

As for play-by-play or any type of streaming audio -- I don't think it's that simiple -- need to have streaming software and a faster link that my 1/2Mb uplink and maybe have to pay the hosting company per listener, and so on.  I still want to do it -- but don't think it's going to be easy.  Contact me via email if you're sure you know how to do it.  If you're SURE, only.  I've fumbled around for years -- need someone that will tell me exactly how to do it.

See you all tomorrow.

Congrats to the entire BUB team and thanks again to SSS and RTR for such wonderful coverage.

TO PORK PIE: Many years ago, I had the chance to have a conversation with Jim Wright, who chronicled a lot of the Goldenrod's construction, and Bill and Bob Summers. The weights and horsepower figures came directly from that group. The error in reaching the 6000 pound target weight and the resuylting scramble to come up with enough horespower to compensate was quite a story.

Jon, You and Nancy run your bikes, We use to have to wait months for results. I'm sure someone will step up. Ever wonder why Roy Creel is at World of Speed. It's the first time he's left alone.......JD

A quick bit of info, the Bullet team found out what was giving them trouble today: a broken shift lever.
