While we're awaiting BUB's launch, here are some shots of the Demon as it came back to the pit end.

Chris is in the vehicle and they're starting to strap him down.  No helmet on him yet.  Going through the checklist.  Wind down here, and on most of the track, is at or below three mph tailwind on this run.

By the way, let me remind you that part of the donations you kind folks are making during this even are for Ray Buck, a/k/a Ray The Rat, for his photography.  I've received a couple of donations -- won't take time to acknowledge them right now -- but thanks, folks, and be assured Ray will share the proceeds with me for his photography.

Back to this event:  Clear track, wind is okay, Chris is in the bike, canopyis on the bike.  Should be no more than a few minutes til they leave.  Clear!   engine started!

Bike is away from the pits -- the freeway end of the race course.  Tightening the rope, moving out, exhaust still smells pretty strong.

On the return road,  now on the race track.

Entering the mile -- engine stuttering.  By the 5  sounds good.

317 entry speed, 320 in the kilo, sounds a little rough, 320 in the mile,  chute's out.

Chute is off and on the salt about the 9 mile.

Yes, Glen, I kinda thought that was nitro -- not difficult to figure out why my eyes were watering.  Ray tells me he got some photos of them literally tipping the can and then doing the measuring -- but he didn't hear the percentage.  Heck of a backfire both on engine start and engine shutdown, though.

Bub will not decide if they want to check the MoTeC and turn around to attempt to qualify coming towards us and then, assuming a good enough speed, make a return run before dark.

The engine has been warmed, and Chris is suited up.  The exhaust sure smelled a bit stronger than pure alky -- kinda made my eyes burn.  Wonder how much they've tipped the can. . .

Whaddya mean tip the can?

Okay, if you say so -- but I'll ask how you know.  On the team?  Great -- we'll pump you for all the information you'll give us.

As for Chris -- no word that I've heard, but then -- I've been busy doing other stuff and the radio was turned down.  But certainly no word saying he's in trouble, so let's assume he's fine.

Heck. Thanks for the updates! Bright and early tomorrow I hope, unless they can get her back, dialed in and returned for another two this evening. Man, that's a lot of scrambling. I've seen those guys though. They can do it if anybody can.   ;-)

My father is Jeff Boyle, Electrician for BUB Seven. Couldn't make it this time. So nerve racking watching post by post!

Spoke to Jeff on the Nitro question, we haven't run nitro in the past, system not set up for it. If it IS what their doing, it's a new strategy we haven't discussed since the BUB meet!:)

Okay - I guess you've got some second-hand information from us.  Post at your will, and thanks.

I hear that Bub is going to head back to the pits -- no more runs today.  Junior Cook is heading back to query the teams here in the pits to see if anyone wants to make a run -- if not, we'll hang it up for the day.

Buckeye Bullet reports they'll leave here early in the morning to get to SLC about 6 to wait for the motor shop to open -- so they can get back here, mount the motor in the car, and be ready to race by noon.  Their truck driver gave me the story -- the team was having a team meeting when I went over there.  Sure hope they get things to fall into line -  the only luck they've been having is bad.
