Mormon Missile has left the pit after a team meeting -- which included some applause -- sounds like a good thing from here.

As for the jet bike -- remember that they aren't here to run for a record -- I think, but rather to get some time and experience and speeds on a course longer than a drag strip in Ohio.  So - they've gone 169 on a run, but never have made a "record attempt".

The Missile is moving to a final starting location -- want to get as far back as possible, but are being warned they need to be careful not to get the rig stuck.  "Back the truck straight back -- don't try to drive forward and turn, because the turned wheels will break through the crust and they'll get bogged down."

They'll go about a quarter-mile deeper towards the mountain and then unload to prep for a run.

I won't use the B***ed word, but when ya find yerself passing time by shooting flies out of the air with bug spray, ya might say that it's a little slow.  :)

Okay, finally something to type.  I've been doing a story for the hoe town newspaper on Nancy's recod at WoS.  Now it's time to move back to right now -- and tell you that Curtis is in the MM car at the far end and getting ready to head this way.  Go fill your coffee cups and come back and I'll have more for you.

Whoo, that's a cool sound -- they're spinning up the jet engine starter and it does get one's attention.

Well, here we go!  The Mormon Missile is on the way.  Gaining speed.   Through the one mile.

Through the eleven, engine off, no chute.

WEll, I'm not sure where those comments originated, so I'll sorta ignore them and letcha know that the BB is at the 11 and nearing the end of the trip there.  Mike Charlton (jet bike guy) says they put a new (used) motor in the bike yesterday and will try again today to get him and the bike over 200.  They're waiting for the Buckeye Bullet to run.  The BB just got to the 12 mile (they called in on the FM wqhile I was typing) and will be ready to run in 15-20 minutes.

Enough for now.

Bullet crew says five minutes.

The SCTA-BNI rule book for electric cars is divided into three categories by vehicle weight, page 45. Class 1 is up to 1099 pounds, (less than 500 kg), Class 2 is up to 2200 pounds (500-1000 kg) and Class 3 is over 2201 pounds, (over 1000 kg).

The BB cars are running against the same target.  The Cat. 1, 132 mph record is not really accurate because the car that set it weighed possibly over 2200 pounds since it was a production automobile.

Brigham Young University is finishing the body on their Cat. 1 car and had hoped to do shake down runs at WoS.
They are sanding the body and preparing it for paint the last I heard three weeks ago.
