Check this out. The roadster #353 on page 27 is a yard art car in my driveway. Really funny story behind it and how I got it.  One of the guys that used to run it at the salt found out it was here and came over and saw it and ended up giving me a DVD that he had made for me from some 8MM film that was shot at the salt back then. Only about 12 minutes but pretty cool stuff. It has had a slight body modification since the picture at the salt. From what I understand it had a Hudson 6 Flathead in it and ran about 137MPH and had a record for about 3 years. If anyone has any information on this car I would love to hear it. Bob

When I raced with Keith Young we always took two engines to Bonneville. One set up for gas, the other for fuel. One year we raced against that car in the gas class. We had our fuel engine in but Keith wanted to beat the Hudson so we ran gas class first. Raced all week trading the record back and forth, ended up wearing out the fuel engine and time ran out before we could do an engine change.

Next time you see Keith ask him about the school kids. If you contact the Hudson Boys I am sure that Richard Thompson can give you more details about the car. He was the guy we raced.

#104 is Fox and Williams. 1980 was it's first time out. 302 GMC 177 mph one way. 168 three run record. Here is a newer picture

You know, I must confess to plagiarism.

When I read the way Dan Warner added those words to the bottom of his post I had no idea of what I had written.

But after reading them I must give credit to the man that first said them to me:  BRET KEPNER.

We were at the Kilo Club last year and he said those exact words to me. When I wrote them I had no idea that

I had quoted him to the letter. I APOLOGIZE to BRET.

I have no idea if my  love analogy  ever entered his thoughts but it certainly has mine.

It's just such a unique place, the people are so marvelous and it has been a lifetime of joy to me.
