Attn Ray The Rat -

Sir,

Was the pic 20101008 272r8.jpg of the roadster #824 shot today? IF so, where was that on the course.....Wish the thing had tufts on it.

You folks are doing a great job for those of us stuck to our 'puters just a wishin'.

Thanks in advance and thanks for your efforts.

Regards,
HB2

Well, since the file name starts with 20101008 and today is 10/08/2010...uhh...yeah.  It was today.  The mile marker is the one.

Mike Cook runs 244 in the first mile, 251 middle, 254.152 last mile -- another qualifier for the Cook car.  Congratulations.

Car 570 shooting ducks at the 3 mile, 198.535 in the quarter, 200.889, middle mile (still sounding funky -- we're out here now)  206.052 middle mile,  last mile 196.890

So as you might have figgered out, we're done running for ourselves now, and also they're only running one course.  Nancy and I are at the 3 1/2 to enjoy watching vehicles run past -- and since there's only one course I can keep up.  I haven't tried listening to the broadcast yet -- don't know if it's working.  But I assure you that not only are you folks pleased with the first effort - so are the officials I have talked with.  I betcha by next year we'll have it working fine.  I know to do it right it'll take a full-time person monitoring both the input audio and the internet output, but that's easy enough to do.  And I've learned that Meridix isn't without issues for way too many of you, so I'll see if there's an even better way to get sound out to everyone on the 'net.  Not bad for a first try, though, is it?

Jack Rogers Realty running #7572 next in A/FA  He sure has fun out here -- was walking around, visiting the pits, and stopped by just to smile and say hi.  Sure is fun for the various competitors.  227 in the quarter, 234.733 first mile, 246.127 middle mile, 249.924 -- take it to impound.  251 exit speed.  Nice run, guys.

In the meantime, the volunteer crews are already picking up the stuff form course #2.  Wire -- miles of it, and 100% salty -- mile markers, cones, quarter mile markers, and so on.  I wonder if I'm supposed to go fetch all twenty porta-potties?  Nah, that's for tomorrow.

9999 Rice Vigeant car running now sans windshield, which blew off at 200 last run.  207.638 middle mile for James Rice, the pilot du jour.  213.445 last mile, 215.152 exit.  Not bad for a breezy ride.

1727 quarter mile 160.530, first mile 162.801 and clicks it off.

And thanks, Jack for the congrats to Ryan.  I haven't yet run across him to shake his hand - but it's always fun to do that for new 200 MPH Club members -- they always have big smiles. . .

I think it's running great for a first stab! I agree monitoring of both sides would be necessary for the utmost airtime. It is easily addictive and I can forsee the demands for performance getting out of hand as the experience & value are so great for those that can't be there! Yeah I know, you used to have to wait till the magazine came out, but once you've tasted nearly live.... well.... it's addictive....... must...... have..............................  :-D

not to mention someone sitting at home without being distracted by all the pretty things rolling by are far more attentive & informative to the goings on. No offense meant to SSS or Ray who do an outstanding job, but I can easily see how someone just sitting at home listening could get broadcasted info out pretty darn quick without distraction! But of course, all they can know is what they hear.

Oh & I think the background music is a must even if it's done with a radio next to the transmitting computer. It helps to know if you're receiving during the lulls in the action!

Not many vehicles running this late in the day, in the meet, so forgive the lulls.  Oh, wait --= what am I saying?  You all know better than that -- that land speed racing is usually long minutes, nay hours, of inactivity - interspersed with a few seconds of frantic excitement.  Sorta like -- never mind.

On the course now is 1532  161.651 in the Monte Osborne car, mile 163.109.

Kent Riches in the 1212 'liner must be near the line -- is requesting a wind reading down the course.

213 in the quarter, 233.428 mile, 230.371 middle,  195.060 in the last mile.  Good tune up run, Kent.

534 Hot Rod Hoodlums is next -- I think Glen said it's a D/STR.  Quarter mile  210.550,, first mile  211.327, 211.727 middle mile, last mile is 212.407.  That's a qualifier -- congratulations.

Great coverage guys!

Anyone know how Jeff Brock did on his return run in the 1503 car?
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

Papi on bike 2230 runs 182 in the first mile, 195 in the quarter, 197.923 in the mile, 199.351 middle mile, 199.480 in the last mile, 200.076 exit speed.

I'm waiting for Ed Safarik to give me the records set this morning -- and I see the 1503 car here about two back from the line now.  No idea how he ran earlier.  I'll see if crew can tell me.

Yes -- he ran 142 this morning, upped the record to 141.

9965  Andy Sills on the S1000 RR BMW is next.  He's been running solid 190s all day -- still looking for the 196 he ran at WoS.  Let's see -- quarter mile 192  195 in the mile, 194.547 next mile, no reports after that.  Closer than all week, Andy.

1503 is next -- love to hear the straight 8.  Dang, he launches hard.  Great stuff!  Runs 142.529 -- should be enough to go to impound again.
