And find yourself like the virgin spinster who died wonderin'.

I'm guessing a virgin spinster is roadster guy.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

"virgin" and "roadster guy" is an oxymoron!

Hello from a moist salt flats.  We're here -- and while moist, it sure doesn't look bad enough to stop us form racing.  Maybe not right now, but by tomorrow -- it oughta be okay.  I took a few photos on the way out here to the pits, and will put them on here in a little while.  In the meantime -- all is not lost.  Check back here in about ten minutes.  By the way, I think that now that we'r this close -- I'll merge the WF and WF Weather topics into just this one.

See you soon.

We drove in a little while ago.  I took photos from about a mile before Land's End to part way to the pits.  Some shots show the water in the muddy tracks in the dirt before the salt, some show the water on the salt. The one with Dan Warner's truck in it is about half way (2 miles) from Land's End to the pits.

There -- and take it from us that the salt in the pits is in pretty dry condition -- not much at all on the tires of the truck.  I'll be back in a while.

Too wet to race -- how's that for a definition of "moist"?  But not so wet that it'll stick to your shoes or tires.  Good enough?

Well, I woulda been back sooner - trying to give you the best information I can about the weather and the salt.

I talked with Jim Dunn -- he's pitting next to us and is dragging the course with the polisher drag.  He says the alt is just about good enough to race today, so by tomorrow, barring any rain, oughta be fine.  And if worse comes to worst, the courses were set up with moving 'em one mile towards Floating Island -- and the salt is better that way, too, so they can do that without much big hu-huu.  So keep heading this way, folks.  It still looks like (again -- barring more rain!) we oughta be racing this week.

Here's a good shot of "how moist is it?"  Our truck's tire and fenderwell after driving from Land's End to the pits:

The drag:

Who's here so far?

Mike Cook's car, and a couple of others.  Long shots only -- but next we'll go mosey around the pits and let you see who's here.  Just got done with a shoot-the-breeze session with Glen Barrett, who also says we'll be fine to race tomorrow.  Oh, yeah -- and then there's Erin and Andy, riding their bikes here from San Francisco.  They just messaged -- saying they've been riding in pouring rain, in western Nevada -- for an hour or two.  We told 'em to keep coming.

Then there's this guy and his bike -- out on the course, and we also just saw a tour bus driving down the race course.  Hunh?  No photo, though.

We'll be off the air for a while.  C U Soon.

We've finished doing POPP duties - again.  No matter where we station the toilets -- we've always got to move a few during the first day or two.

The weather is getting nicer.  It's cloudy but the sun is peeking through now and then, and the temp has come uop to where we're not shivering so much in the cool breeze.

Best of all, my telephone has re-appeared.  It's been missing sincxe last Friday at 7AM, and I've already called to get it replaced.  Now I've gotta see if I can get that one stopped and my "co-pay" refunded.  If you need to call -- 906 361 6282 is back in business.

I'm leaving in an hour or so. World Finals is my favorite. We got Jack Kelly in the 2 Club at Finals in 2004. Wayno
