Hee's what going on - and why it doesn't sound as good as you and I would like.
The audio is not getting to the internet connection the correct way - yet. Right now it's pretty much a microphone lying on the desktop and "overhearing" Scott, the announcer, and the CB with Glen on it.
So what we'll next try to do is find the XLR female to RCA cable so we can get the audio straight from the mixer into the 'puter. That'll give us good sound from Scott.
Then it's find a way to get the audio out of the CB and into the 'puter, too. We'll farkle up a speaker line out to 'outer in wire (might have to mess around with impedance matching), and that'll go to the 'puter.
Of course -- then, with two audio feeds, we'll need to run a mixer before the computer (which is just a Netbook, by the way) to get the levels about what they oughta be.
If we could get the audio out of the PA amp and into the netbook that'd work -- but that amp is pretty aged and doesn't have many outputs -- especially ones that aren't in use now. And then, if we did -- we'd have the music that's running in the background all day long today. The comments I've already seen here are that you folks are more interested in hearing motors than Frankie Valli.
Now if I could get hold of a UHF handheld so we could hear the FM -- nah, there's not that much that's of real interest to anyone but the officials. So I'll work on that last, if at all.
As you may have heard -- we're down for a "wind" hold -- about 18 mph of wind across the course. The weather doesn't look all that much like the wind will slow down soon, either. Stay tuned. I'll post and keep thinking of how to get the audio better.
But hey -- it's WORKING! Yee-hah!!
