So while we're down I'll add some more photos from up at the line.  Remember, by the way , for you folks that are just getting on line for the first time today, that it's wet out here at Bonneville and we're only running one combination course.  Two of them were prepared - but the one nearer the pits is still too wet for racing.  If the weather stays dry and as bright and sunny as it is now (well, partly cloudy, but still nice) -- maybe the nearby course (a/k/a course #1) will dry and be usable tomorrow.

Photos:

First -- the Danny Thompson ride that just got upside down:

Before I forget, Mike Cook just qualified his 589 car, and Nancy's got the speed written down so I can tell you, but she's got the note with her.  I'll report that later.  She's back -- he ran 238 on a 223 record.

One of the BMW S1000 competitors in P/P 1000:

Look at all the salt on the car -- just from being towed down to the line from the pits:

Rice and Vigeant.  Okay, I apologize for saying that it isn't a belly tank car.  I said that a year ago -- and caught a bit of hassle from the Rice brothers because of my mis-statement.

More wet salt on the race car:

Chad Howey's car:

I know that anything running in I/CGALT oughta sound like it's got a small motor, but boyoboy, this car's engine note reminds me of an angry hornet.  I think I heard he qualified -- will check in impound later.

Cathy Butler about two vehicles back from the line:

The 'liner from Vermont:

Jeannie Pflum on her Honda P/P 1000 bike.  Her run started out sounding good, but about the 3-4 shift it didn't sound right -- like the trans jumjped down to fifth, or maybe sixth.  She pulled off the course soon thereafter.

Barnyard Bearcat:

Bike rider with his lightweight bike:

More later -- we're still on hold.

Here's a shot of the Thompson (Hajek) car on the ASSREV (Alien Space Ship REcovery Vehicle).

Doesn't look real pretty, but, like everyone else, I'm glad to hear that Danny's ok.

Hey, we're back to racing here at Bonneville.  And during the hiatus Kurt called to say that the experimental streaming audio project is getting close to being on the air -- for trial, at least.

The 749 Studebaker just ran -- pulled the chute about the 2 1/2, and now is off the course and fire and rescue is heading that way -- some smoke coming from the car.

Back to the streaming -- it'll be available at www.meridix.com.  Once you're there you'll enter "landracing" in the search window and it'll take you to a page that looks pretty much like the home page of this site.  On the left side there's a "Listen Live" green button on which you should click.  When you do that there's a window that'll open showing sort of an audio control board.  Since that's as far as we've got -- I don't know what'll happen next.

I sure hope it doesn't become a problem that we can only listen OR read the Forum -- sure hope the audio part runs under the Forum pages.  We'll see.

By the way, Scott Andrews is doing the announcing in the tower, and he's running a continuous background tape of rock and roll.  You'll hear that whether he's talking or not.

So - the 749 car is still out there, surrounded by emergency vehicles. Ray got a photo - hoping to be able to show the tires that he heard, on the radio, are flat.  He'll crop and then post the picture.

don't fret yet -- I haven't had the call from Kurt telling me that it's up and running.  Last I heard he was downloading one last little bit of program, so the system probably isn't yet running, that's all.  Hang in there.

Another car ran, but before I could catch a number -- he pulled the chute at about the 3 and now we're waiting to see what's happening -- and what's not.

The wind is pretty strong here in the pits, with flags flying straight out -- must be close to 15 mph crosswind on the track.

We're running again -- car 904 just ran a 137.  Good to hear engine noise again.

Some shots of the 749 Everitt Stude as the EVs respond to the fire.  They were on the scene before I could get my camera pointed in that direction.  Good work, guys.  I heard reports of two flat tires, but that's not evident in my photos.

Before the "issues" I did a sort of panorama showing the staging lanes.  Although things started out kinda slowly...there were several intervals where there were no vehicles ready to run...that didn't last very long.  The lanes filled up fairly quickly and I'd venture to sat that they're probably longer now.

You can see pools of standing water near the lanes...this ain't the driest place on earth, but it's not completely underwater, either.
