Here's a quick update on the Hot Rod trophy contenders. Poteet and Main are through, with the C/BFS record and a good shot at the trophy. Spectre is on its 4th motor and told me that they'd run by noon. I dunno which day, tho, cuz I been waitin for 'em and they haven't showed. Bobby Moore was gonna run, but is also a no show so far.
The 911 roadster just ran with horrible front wheel shimmy, but I heard that clears up at speed. Davidson ran around 289...or it might have been 298...not a qualifier, in either case.
Joe Amo just ran and while I didn't get a speed, he told me that he hadn't been able to get over 150 because of handling issues and I attribute that to track conditions. The Demon's rear tires which kinda explain that. Ron Main told me that he had the traction control set at 10 percent slippage and George said the tires were slipping all the way down the course. He didn't lift, tho, and backed up the record.
Here are a few photos, including one of Joe Amo demonstrating how hot it is at the starting line, especially in leathers. Next one I'll show a sequence of absolute exasperation...for which I don't blame the driver a bit.
