Ray, since you let your hair grow out, it's more difficult to identify you.

You sneaky bugger.

Congratulations for the "Got Salt" bunch and to Frank Silva for his entry into the 200MPH club. Frank has tried for many years. It's a real treat to see someone/team who worked that hard attain their goals especially since they needed a record a bunch over 300 to get in the 2 club. Once again Congrats to Frank.................JD Tone

   Jon,
I'll be home the rest of the day [406 696 5029]. Don't worry about hauling the bike home. I'll bring it with me to WOS. Call when you get in the area, and I'll give you directions for the shortcut to the "hillside" where I live.

Long time coming.

Any other "special rewards" besides the Blue Hat?

Engine Bouy, you figured it out. NICE.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

We met Frank and crew in 2005 and have pitted next to them since we have started racing the Fairlane in 2007. Frank, Frank Jr., John and crew have gone through a lot just since I've known them to get the record and couldn't be happier for them. Congrats to the whole Got Salt Crew

Jon and Ray, great job on keeping the website up to date all week.  Glad to meet you in person, Ray.  Kudos to Glen, DW and the rest of the gang who put on a great week of smooth racing as usual.  BTW, I think the picture of the destroyed green tent at the Bend Iin the Road was mine...total loss.  See everyone next year, Bruce.

Hi, Matt Shuss here.
I am the new Chief Motorcycle Inspector for SCTA, taking over for Tom Evans as he power-slides into retirement.

I am going to answer the questions I've seen here and then give you my email addy for any and all questions related to motorcycles.

Concerning the diesel fuel motorcycle, it is a factory installed engine on a Royal Enfield motorcycle.
Diesel bikes run in the gas class, rule 2.B, page 18.

Jay Allen was an APS bike, I did the record cert on that. He does have an S&S engine and a Big Boar frame. If it says MPS, it is a typo on the web site.

Tom Evans and I discuss every record cert to be sure the bike is classified correctly.
We aim to be correct 100% of the time, so if you see an incorrect record, email me and I can discuss it with you.

As you can see by my number of posts, I do not frequent this board on a regular basis.
Because of my position, I cannot conduct free ranging discussions on this board, so email me directly.

Thank you,

Matt Shuss

Matt, thank you very much for your comments and appearance on this Forum.  I think it's fair to say that all of us are pleased to know that you're visiting here, even if it's only now and then, and that you're open to hearing from any of us.  I think that it's also fair to say that we (okay, at least most of us) understand why you don't promise to look here for each and every question and discussion about bikes.  And thanks for telling us that you'll be willing to hear from any of us individually when we've got questions or situations that need your input.

Best wishes -- and gee, I wish we had made it to impound so we could have had your signature in our logbook and on a record cert.

Slim,

Sorry you didn't make it by.

I can answer questions on a specific topic when people email me, but putting them on the board leaves them open to many different interpretations which might not be in the scope of the original question.

Class designation is the most difficult problem we have and we are working on a better way for people to easily understand the differences.

Thank you,

Matt Shuss

Thanks for the update Matt.  Must be a typo on the SCTA site.

2469B 3000CC MPS-PG  Jay Allen Racing 175.598 184.314 185.174 185.174

The other bike I mentioned was a bike called a Big Dog that used an X-Wedge engine, but it was a custom built chassis, not based on a Big Dog or any other production bike.

MPS-PBG Big Dog Bagger - 08/10 158.766

Hopefully I get to see in you impound next year!

Matt,  Thanks for taking on the job.  I know its a lot of responsibility.  Tom Evans was great to work with and I know that you'll be just as good.  See you next year.

Okay, gotta slip a little note in here real quick!!

Do you know that ALL of you (MY) racers were super fantastic all week?  You did everything just right entering and leaving the salt and I'm proud of you!!   I got a chance to meet a lot of the racers that I only knew as names here on the forum, but now, there is a face to go along with those members.

I received some very special gifts this year and want to thank you publicly for them.  It amazes me that you guys would do that for me and I want you to know how much I sincerely appreciate it.....I also appreciate the coffee, goodies, and breakfast that I received every day.  Those may seem like little things to you, but they feel huge to me.

Congratulations to all the new record holders.  I didn't get out on the salt this year, so I missed everyone's runs     But it was so crazy at Land's End I felt I should stay there and do my job.

I just wanted all of you to know how terrific you are and to tell you Thank You.  I couldn't have done my job without your cooperation!!  So, Kudos to all of you!!

See you on the salt!!

Ray, since you let your hair grow out, it's more difficult to identify you.

You sneaky bugger.

FREUD

Were ya using the glare off my shaved head like a beacon?  I took such a ration of sh*t from so many people for not wearing a hat (I know...they did it outta care and concern and love) that I didn't bother to shave it...and I trimmed the beard back cuz I kept rolling over on it in bed and waking myself up.  Duh.  Maybe I shoulda started braiding it,  huh?

Here's a shot Pork Pie got last year...I spose I could grow the beard again and do the head shaving thing again and then you could find me in any local asylum or looney bin.  ;)
