Word through social media is James Height rode his motorcycle into the 2 club today.  I know he had his turbo 650 and 750 out there.  Wish I knew more.

James had his 600 turbo that he and Paul Powell built, and set a record at 201 in MPS/BG-650, and got a red hat. He popped a motor early in the meet, swapped it out, and set the record.

It was his first trip to the salt, but not his first rodeo, he's been bringing turbo bikes to the ECTA for at least 3 years, and joined the ECTA 200 club on his 750 turbo -naked- earlier this season.

Congrats

I also heard that Fred Vance set a record of 223 in MPS/G-1350, and requalified at 228. WTFG - all motor, no long tail.

Fantastic, superb effort in a beautiful streamliner!!

I saw in the SCTA record results that the Gus Gus Streamliner got Fabio Montani in the three club yesterday.  Freud says they requalified at 303 today.  Quite a car.  Helluva job for someone building it in, and hauling it from, Italy.

The video sure had a great shot of a classic Street Roadster spin.  Anyone who thinks they coulda saved that one is wrong.
Thanks for the encouraging words , this thing was a handful all week . It seemed every change we made had no effect on how it handled. The only thing we seemed to have a real handle on was the engine ! I'm very excited to be bringing home a running car so I can hit the local cruise in !
We had a great week , hats off to all the volunteers , I'm sure we used up more than our fair share of the officials time, we were on first name basis with a few !

Back home.  After the Hot Rod trophy presentation and the runs by several other teams, including the BYU Electric Blue (I'm transferring files from my laptop to the "mainframe"...it takes a while for 22 gig to transfer) I called it a day.  No, a week.  I got there last Thursday.  I'm sure glad I only had a 2 hour drive (relatively uneventful except for the known power brake booster and cooling system leak problems...I'll address them tomorrow) and I'm gonna settle down for some dinner and crash out in my own bed (well, I had my own bed in the back of the Burb....but...)

I had a very nice email from Ray Crowell's widow, Kim.  For those who don't know, Ray C. (not RtR) was the victim of a massive heart attack last Friday and passed very quickly, and according to those who attended him, without suffering.  She asked me to pass on thanks to all those who helped load up the truck and those who provided whatever care they could.  You know who you are...I also thank you.

Finally, I wanna offer good wishes to all the wonderful people I met, new friends and old, while on the salt...the Magic Kingdom.  Thanks to all who inquired about my health (which, all things considered, is pretty good) and to those who waggled their fingers at me and told me not to work so hard.  :)  One of my favorite sayings is, "if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing."  Seems to be deeply ingrained in me.

I look forward to seeing more friends (some the same) at BUB in about 10 days.  I guess I better get the Burb fixed PDQ.

G'nite,

Amen to that!  Stuff happens to race cars or any other cars/trucks involved..."that's racing."  I'll fix it and be there for the next race.  Sound familiar?

Anyway, here's a shot I got on Wednesday night from Jack Rabbit Flats (my name for the area above the Bend) with my camera on a tripod and a 20 second exposure.  I think I posted one similar to it earlier.  Can't remember.  Now it's REALLY time for bed.
