I beg your forgiveness;
 2010 rule book sectiom 2B;
" when a specific class is not available, engines using LPG, natural gas or DIESEL FUEL will compete in gasoline classes..."

Still looking for the no diesel engines MC rule...

I just came from SCTA's record list and it show's a record of 15.... mph  I can't believe Tom Evans let that get by...

I don't think there is a no diesel rule Sam. But, I think there is a rule about using a motorcycle engine.

Attached are 3 images of Ray the videographer at his tower that I could locate quickly.

The first is Ray watching a bird at the Mike Cook Shootout.
The exhausted bird, was taking shelter under one of the cars and drinking water we put out for it.
The second is Ray at the base of his video tower at the Mike Cook Shootout.
The third is Ray going up the ladder to join Pork Pie at the top of the tower at the Mike Cook Shootout.

Ray I will miss your company during the breaks in the runs, and your willingness to laugh, and your sea stories.
The historical record of Bonneville will be diminished by the loss of his video coverage from that high tower vantage point, and his willingness to wait and watch for hours on end to document every run. It was a labor of love done for the simple enjoyment of seeing and hearing the cars run.

To his partner, Stan (I hope I am remembering your name correctly), please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss!

Larry

Thanks for posting these pictures. -Dean

A m/c has to have a m/c engine, there is a team that has converted a KLR 650 engine to diesel and is running it.

Just got me'self a nice spot on the worlds best "parking lot":
SpeedWeek, impound.

First run.  Bike just went soooo smoooooth. Took it easy. Wanted to get a feeling of things and not spoil the fun on the first run.
I just couldn't believe it: timing slip said: 98 ( point something ) mph.
Couldn't be more happy.

Wish me luck tomorrow morning

Hotrod, thanks for the pics of Ray. I remember my wife Tricia being invited by Ray to climb up his tower to get a better view as I went by. I also remember returning to the salt the day after the 2010 Loctite/Mike Cook's Shootout was over. Ray was there preparing to tear down his tower. I stopped and talked to him. Nice guy and knew a lot about every racer and who did what. I believe I was out there to return "Speedy", the timing tower official mascot who took a ride in the Ack Attack that year, Back to his owner... Sad to see guys like him go. All part of the Bonneville experience and there will be a void where Ray used to be...

Octane,

     Sunrise from impound is even more spectacular, an experience that will transform all your journey's hardships into mere historical trivia instantly.  Congratulatins on getting there!  All the best with the morning run,  whatever the number you will have earned every tenth ten times over.

On the 15mph open 350c.c. diesel bike record.....what kind of engine is it?.........................................

As to Tom Evans letting it slip by......more likely Tom did not do the Tech. inspection.....there are other
bike Tech. people helping out.......Hey, maybe it was Slim, he has been known to do bike
Tech...

Way to go Lars......go for big tomorrow...............................See you at the BUB..............................
