2021 Harvest Event. At speed on the Loring course we see Jason White in the team "Tragedy to Triumph" Corvette. He took the C6 to get it sorted out for a 200 + mph run scheduled for spring 2022 by Dan Parker. Jason holds the LTA record for cars driving his C6 Team Rec Mech Motorsports at 269.273 mph set in September 2019. Dan Parker lost his sight in a drag racing accident and was determined to break the blind driver land speed record established in the Guinness Record Book. The Corvette has a guidance system that communicates to the driver for course correction. It was developed for aero space and adapted to the car. Jason generously agreed to prepare the car and sit in the passengers seat in the event of a guidance system failure. LTA provided the certified timing equipment and recorded the speeds at the New Mexico Spaceport America track. Dan drove the car to a speed of 211.043 mph on March 31st, 2022. Exactly 10 years to the day from the accident that caused his blindness. This easily broke the previous record of 200.9 mph set in 2014 by England?s Mike Newman. The Guinness Record book representative was on hand to witness the event and presented Dan with the certification of the record. Tom Shay photo.
