2016 Spring Event. In the hot box we see Team Kryton Racing's number L174 Indian Scout. Ridden by Tom Crompton to a record speed of 74.497 mph in class M/PVG-500 (Modified/Pushrod Vintage Gas 500 cc). Tom has a number of antique Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles. They are not just display pieces as he actively races them at Loring as well as road courses. He has raced a former Connecticut State Police 1917 Indian with a sidecar at Loring. Theresa Lynn photo.

In your post #159, you asked what bike Wendel Allen is riding.  It is a Yamaha 1979 or 1980 SR500 single cylinder.  Several of these SR500s have been raced at BMST, DLRA (Australia), as well as Loring, but  as far as I know, Wendel's record is the fastest for an SR/XT 500.

Tom,
Thanks for researching Wendell Allen's bike. He has certainly accomplished a lot with a 500 single.

2017 Harvest Event. At the starting line we see Team Know Fear Motorsport's number 2187 Suzuki TL1000R. Ridden by Jeff Avery to a top speed of 161.424 mph in class MPS/TG1000 (Modified Partial Streamline/Twin Gas 1000 cc).  Suzuki designed this bike to compete in Superbike road races back in 1998 against the Ducati  916. Manufactured until 2004 the machine has become a collectors piece with almost a cult following.  This is only the second one I have seen at Loring. Stacy Robey photo

2015 Harvest Event. In the hot box preparing to run we see the Team Blonde Bitch Racing's number 2255 belly tanker. Driven by Andrew Welker to a record speed of 166.045 mph in class XF/GL (Flathead Ford V8/Gas Lakester).  The exceptional design and construction on this beautiful lakester is only exceeded by the shine of the body and the WW2 style art work.  Team was well prepared and methodical took the tank on succeeding runs from 125 mph up to the record speed on their last run. Jack, I'll bet they are hiding behind the fixed inner moons... inside a reverse dish wheel giving them a small to zero scrub radius.

Doubt there's front brakes on the Blonde Bitch don't see any area for a brake hose.

LTA rule Brakes 3.W adequate brakes are required.  Brake controls shall be within the drivers reach while in the driving position. No front wheel brakes only systems allowed.

If your running ECTA front brakes would be required.

Could be Ron... I was thinking the line would be behind axle and into that solid area you see under the moon.... I thought all the miles required 4 wheel brakes these days

Pics on line of Andrews lakester show flat inner wheel covers theres no room for a brake assembly from what I can see. Inner wheel covers that have the bubble shape are much better in the air than a flat inner wheel cover. Andrew I bet was going for all the help aero will give for the runs at Loring.

When I ran our car as a lakester at the ECTA 1 mile events at Maxton North Carolina and latter at Willington Ohio never had front brakes and always passed inspection. We had a chute so stopping was never a problem. But I was still learning how to become fast so my speeds at the time were just under 180.
