I know Marcia was planning on running the lakester this year.   A lot of engineering in that car.  Marcia is a big GM 6 cylinder racer.  Surprised at the Ford 2.4

On the course and at speed we have 1927 Ford Model T roadster #9339. It was designed and built by one of the original founders of the Loring Timing Association, Bob Jepson.  Powered with a late model turbo charged Ford 4 cylinder at the Maine Event in 2011 it set the record for 3 liter / blown gas roadster (F/BGR) at 167.128 mph.

At the 2010 Maine Event, on the return road at time slip pickup we see Dean Sabatinelli on Scott Guthrie Racing's (SGR)  Suzuki Hayabusa #1110.  He is holding a time slip for the last run of the event. Dean set a record in Altered Partial Streamlined / Blown Gas 3001 cc / 4 stroke (APS/BG3001/4) with the extraordinary speed of 269.776 mph. A very accomplished rider, Dean has the ability to go 5 miles per hour faster than anyone on the same machine.  He said his secret is, "Hold each gear until they reach their maximum rpm and then get under the paint". This record still stands.

From the inaugural 2009 Maine Event pictured just a couple of hundred feet from the starting line,  before he gets into his patented tuck is Dean Sabatinelli riding #1440.   This unfaired open Kawasaki 1000cc Ninja presenting "Team Sabatinelli RSK Fast" set the modified / blown gas 1000 cc / 4 stroke (M/BG-1000/4) record at 220.647 mph. Another of Dean's records that has withstood the test of time.

Harvest Event 2019.  Fast Ed Blakeslee at the starting line in his beautiful "Green Car" 1955 Chevy.   He drives this classic Chevrolet up to Loring from New Jersey races it to a speed of 144 mph and then drives it home.  One of the nicest restored Tri-fives with a later small block engine and a roll bar.

At the starting line Harvest Event 2016 we see Geezer Racing's Firebird nicknamed "The Noble Savage". Owned and driven by Brian Acton.  He set a record in unlimited displacement / blown fuel altered (AA/BFALT) at 227.524 mph in the mile and a half. Brian has competed and set records in multiple land speed venues. The Gen3 Firebirds/Camaros offer great aerodynamic advantages which Team Geezer took to the next level. Stacy Robey photo

After July the Lakester will go to Tom's for a SBC while we concentrate on rhe truck. Then we'll think about putting a vintage inline in the Lakester.

Harvest Event 2015. In the hot box next up for the starting line we see Dan Daughenbaugh on the "Greasy Gringo Racing" team #1197.  He was able to set the record for the mile at 96.304 mph in Altered Partial Streamlined / Pushrod Vintage Fuel 500 cc / 4 stroke  (APS/PVF-500/4).  The machine is a much modified pre-unit construction 1951 BSA 500 cc Twin Star.  Outstanding speed for a motorcycle old enough to be eligible for Social Security.  When new they were optimistically rated as having 30 horse power, Dan did some carnage on the old twin and had to rebuild the engine 3 times to set the record.

2021 Maine Event. We see in the Loring pits Tom Pease alongside of Pease Motor Sports entry #1812.  Named "Chevomet" due to the mating of a Chevrolet engine into a 1964 Comet  coupe.  They race in 6 Liter / Gas Competition Coupe (C/GCC) In the background is their ?Cool Bus? race car hauler showing the old school ramps and exposed race car. (Tom Hale - HTF Motorsports photo). Reminiscent of the way teams transported stock cars back in the day. 
Pease Motor Sports is a family-owned race team out of Florence, Massachusetts.  They have raced in ARCA, Super Cup, Hoofer?s Pro Cup, and NASCAR and now land speed racing. At the Maine Event 2022 Tom put down a strong run of 179.123 mph.  They are still sorting the car out and preparing to campaign the car at Bonneville as well as Loring.   They will put Chevomet in the LTA 200 MPH Club this year.  Marcia Barker was invited to make some test passes to help with the tune. Beautifully built machine with a lot of engineering and design in it.
