Driven by Paul Calaguiro to a mile record of 148.365 mph in F/CGC ( 3 Liter / Classic Gas Coupe ).  Powered by an overhead cam Pinto engine Paul also holds the mile and a half record for F/CGC set at the Maine Event 2012 with a speed of 150.382 mph. 2016 Spring Event.  In staging lanes we see the Team Roberts number 889 motorcycle.  Ridden by Ray Roberts to a record speed in the mile of 131.486 mph in A/PBF - 650/4 (Altered / Pushrod Blown Fuel  - 650 cc / 4 stroke). Outstanding speed from an unpaired 650cc pushrod bike. A lot of engineering went into this machine.  Has a crankshaft driven supercharger.  Looks like the head was turned around.  SU carburetor. Need some help from the pushrod bike racers on identifying this engine.  Has Puma cast on right side engine cover.  Only Puma Motorcycle I can find were made in Argentina and had 2 stroke Sachs engines. PUMA was an English company that made aftermarket carankcases for Triumph motorcycles.
Much heavier duty thicker castings.
Nowadays they are based in the Netherlands and are the premier maker of Top Fuel Motorcycle bottom ends, used by Larry Mcbride and almost all the 5 Sec runners world wide
Old enough to know better, but too interested in speed to care

I heard from Ray Roberts.  He said Puma made heavy duty pre- unit Triumph cases for racing and he used a Puma timing cover on the bike.

2017 Harvest Event.  At the starting line preparing for a hard launch we see the Fairway Motorsports number 9416 Gen6 Kawasaki ZX10R.  Ridden by Cliff Daly to a record one mile speed of 197.195 mph in class M/F-1000/4 ( Modified / Fuel - 1000 cc / 4 stroke ).  Nicknamed the Blaster, I was originally purchased as a wrecked "parts" bike for the engine.  But once the damaged fairing were removed the frame was discovered to be straight.  Nitrous Oxide was added with it consistently running high 190's.  At 6'6" tall Cliff makes the Ninja look like a mini bike.  Stacy Robey photo.

The recent discussion about British bikes makes me want to post a photo of what I think is a very pretty example. At Lake Gairdner, which is Australia's equivalent of Bonneville, we see a pre-unit construction Triumph twin. Built and raced by John Moss to a record of 119.002 mph in M/VG-650 (Modified/Vintage Gas-650 cc). This unassuming antique bike appears to have a single carburetor head which make it a TR6 (1956-1962). It was advertised as a 110 mph bike when new. The British bike racers know a lot more about them then I do so feel free to correct me if I was not accurate. Simple and efficient in design this classic looks fast standing still.

Our friends in Oz forwarded the post to John Moss.  He responded that the bike is in fact a 1954 Triumph Thunderbird.  It does have twin carbs. I missed that. I am guessing the angle of the photo obscured the 2nd carb.  An impressive machine for its simplicity.  Triumph T6 Thunderbird was the bike ridden by Marlon Brando in the classic movie "The Wild One".
