tough tough year!  Since Thursday at Bubs the salt has never came back to useable condition.  Lets hope next year is not so rough on us racers!

The decision was made at 10:30am. The BNI and SCTA Boards were notified first. I then left work, came home and started emailing and posting on the website, here and emailing everyone on Straightaway News.

Thanks for the email Miriam, got it on my smart phone between meetings!

Also thanks to Rick for the pre-headsup.

Looks like November El Mirage for me as far as running goes. I'm still holding out for Mike Cook's Shootout.  Wayno

Wayno, I'm still looking forward to the Shootout in two weeks, too.  As my personal measure of commitment to going back out there one more time -- I left our race trailer in West Wendover.  I want it handy for the Shootout, but if there isn't one -- I'll make a quick trip (how can alomst 4,000 miles be "quick"?) out there and back, towing it home.  I sure hope there's a Shootout.  I see that Ohio State/Venturi has pulled the plug on Bonneville for 2013.  I wonder who else has given up already.

Bummer about the OSU Buckeye Bullet.  I have a feeling that you're right, SSS...there will prolly be more folks throwing in the towel for this year, especially if the wind continues as it has.  I wouldn't blame Ack Attack, BUB7 and Sam Wheeler if they did decide to pack it in.

However, there are a few teams who really wanna be the first over 500...so the suspense continues.  I guess I better get to work on my Camaro so I can finish up what I'd planned so I can bring the Monte Carlo in for the winter to do some serious work on it.  Pipe dream department:  130 Club in the Camaro, 150 Club in the Monte Carlo.  Who knows after that.

It's not all doom and gloom folks, even though it's not looking good.

A bit of LSR history from the Bonneville Salt Flats.....

Examples of wheel driven records set late in the year.

Thunderbolt  Nov. 19, 1937     311 mph
Railton Sept. 15, 1938            350 mph
Thunderbolt Sept. 16, 1938     357 mph
Railton Sept. 16, 1947            394 mph
Goldenrod Nov. 12, 1965         409 mph
Turbineator Oct. 18, 2001       458 mph
Spirit of '76 Oct. 2002            405 mph
Burkland's Sept. 26 2008         417 mph

Not to mention almost all of the jet records were set at Bonneville were between Oct. & Nov.

Sounds GREAT! Got a 2000 HP CBB in your hip pocket we can borrow?

Post #131 - JR, dropping the gear seems to equal beer, Rick lets just pull the door down on the White Goose Bar International HQ and race central.

World Finals canceled

well, the same game as with the World of Speed.....I will fly in to Salt Lake Friday night and have to find out, to do the best out of it........

If there is a Shootout II after the World Finals...I have to fly home on the 5th....so no Shootout for me....if there is one....

Bad luck for the SCTA/BNI as the organizer and for the racer.......

but we had lots of luck in August....ask the one who walks away......

SteveM, what about trying for the Texas Mile in october? Maybe you can plead with them or the ECTA for a spot. Let thrm know your misfortune. I for one would like to see the Rampage run this year.

Be safe back home.....as I wrote...do the best out of it....

Doug and Barb from Salt Cat Racing in Montana was part of it....had a great time there....and I could escape the snow right on time....left their place before the big snow fall starts.

Doug & Barb...thanks for all...I enjoyed the stay at your place....

Due to this that I left earlier I could help Ray (the Rat) for the Salt Scout at Bonneville....was something wild at the salt....what a wind...otherwise the salt was really fine...

The speed community is really great....now in October Doug & Barb....in September Joe (Amo) and my Bockscar team in Denver....wherever I went I found a great hospitality...
so as on Ray the Rat's place.....thanks again to all of you.

Was today back at work and survived without getting the PC keyboard on the forehead.....

but now the season is over....for me....if they can run Shootout....I wish them safe and successful runs.

Looking for to see you all next year

   PorkPie,
Had a great time. Sorry we didn't have more time to enjoy Yellowstone, and the Cody Museum/Gun collection. Next time. I would recommend both of those to anybody who has a little time to spend up here. Not real expensive, and the gun collection is phenominal. We'll do it again.
