Outstanding Ray! I, for one, really appreciate the reports! Thank you so much for the time you spend keeping all of us informed!

I'm with Freud on this one! I'd be more than happy to pitch a little gas money in Ray's direction!
Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish. The product of a demented hill billy who has found a way to live out where the winds blow. To sleep late, have fun, drink whiskey, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love or getting arrested.    H.S. Thompson

Thanks, Tim!  I appreciate it.  Btw, Tom Burkland tells me that the valley/swale is marked on maps as Silver Island Pass.  He went on to mention that Silver Island Loop scenic byway passes through it and that it's not really recommended for "light duty" vehicles (including 4wd Burbs) since a portion of it consists of alkali powder/mud that's sorta like quicksand.  A friend knows all too well about that and being rescued by Vikings.  LOL!

Hi Guys-

We have a crew coming from Minneapolis to the World Finals and I was wondering if anyone could give me an update on salt condition so our trip isn't in vein?

My e-mail address is sfowler@ravenworksllc.com or I'll try to get back on here and look for updates.

Best Regards,
Steve Fowler

Steve, you found the right place, tell your Minny crew to watch this space.
If you look at the entire thread, you will see it was started by the Prez of the SCTA.

Steve:

First of all, welcome to the Forum.  It's good to have you here.  Feel free to stay with us - even once WF is over.

Okay - salt conditions.  The first place for you to check is at the SCTA's website:  www.scta-bni.org.  That's the official outlet for stuff from the SCTA, and they'll have the latest word on conditions, including cancellations and updates on the conditions of the salt for racing.

But just in case they don't have the latest up yet -- also please check here - in the Forum.  We've got a thread going that's called "World Finals 2013".  It'll have information and discussion of the salt conditions, including eyewitness reports from folks that are out there or are driving by the salt.  What we say is not THE official word, but I betcha it's close enough.  And as soon as SCTA posts something we get it here, one way or another.

Final note:  Please go back to your "profile" where you registered for the site.  Once there -- enter your city (or town) and state so we'll always be able to figure out where you are.  Putting location in your first post is fine -- but six months down the road it'll be difficult to find that first one, hey?

Thanks, and again -- welcome.

Ray:

HBD, and thanx for the pix and wx info!  According to Wunderground for ENV (Wendover), it's a 40% chance of precip on Wed and 20% on Thur.  If we can get through that OK, it's showing no more wet stuff - at least through Wed 10/02.  So, we just may have a shot a getting WF in.
