Thanks, Rick.  I don't know if you're correct, though -- because I just checked the SCTA website and it does not mention the cancellation.  It does say, however, that if there is one -- "You will see it posted here first."

So obviously you can't have correct information -- or, maybe, you've managed to beat their website by some sleight of hand.

If it is cancelled -- well, boo, hoo.  I'm sorry to hear that for everyone involved.  Next will be the Shootout.  I hope that one doesn't end up being cancelled, too.

Well if is cancelled officially I hope they update their site soon so I can cancel a plane ticket before the 10 day period expires I have to do it in.

Somebody needs to make an official decision, my nerves can't take it anymore. This is like lighting the fuse on my cannon that is longer than it needs to be, the suspense is killing me!

It's off...no wait, It's still on... well, the Govt is going to shut down the day after tech...it's sunny, it's raining, there is snow in the mountains... an old friend came in from out of town, my tux isn't back from the cleaners....

The World Finals event for 2013 is cancelled.

The salt flats are presently covered in water and more rain is expected. The water levels have gone down since the big rains and occasionally we can see dry spots, but with the temperatures being so low, there is just not enough time for the salt to dry up enough to make racing possible. Photos will be posted tonight. This message has also been posted on the SCTA website and will be emailed out via the Straightaway News. Please let everyone know. Entries will be returned - cc haven't been processed and check will be mailed back.

I hope to see you all next year at the salt. Of course there are still two El Mirage dates!

The decision was made at 10:30am. The BNI and SCTA Boards were notified first. I then left work, came home and started emailing and posting on the website, here and emailing everyone on Straightaway News.

Please -- I didn't doubt that Rick had the true scoop.  I was just giving a gentle jerk on the SCTA website's chain.  And now Miriam has made it very plain that she - and the entire group - was trying their best to let everyone know quickly that WF '13 isn't going to happen.  Thanks to all - and next year we'll see you on the salt.
Speed Shootout this fall, in which case -- we'll be there in three weeks.
