Racer speak for: "Well, I have three weeks of work to do, but several applications of duct tape, chewing gum, and clarinet reeds . . ."
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.

Speaking of WF -- today's mail brought the SpeedWeek wrap up and a registration form for World Finals '13.  The reg. form says the entry (postmark) deadline is this Sunday, 22 September.  Getting something postmarked on a Sunday will be a trick, so I guess you'd best get your entry to the Post Office tomorrow.  $450 "early" entry fee -- 23rd and after is $650, and they are to be accepted at the event, it reads.  I wonder if that means that you shouldn't even try mailing if you're mailing it after the 22st. :?

SirStude,
Okay, it's been a few days since you posted but I've been W/O computer for about eight days now.  So in a nutshell here's the diff between Speedweek and WF:
At SW you do ALL you can just to stay alive... Lots of Gatorade, sitting in the shade, running the AC in the truck, suit up only at the last possible minute, etc.  A while back I put a shower in my race trailer and immediately after most SW runs (we chase the car with the trailer attached to the push truck) I peel off my soaking wet fire suit and take a quick shower before loading the car and heading to the pits/Impound.
At WF though, I generally put on the fire suit in the hotel room and leave it on all day.  Time slips show 40-45 degree drop in temps between the two meets and I've made more than a few runs with it raining on my windshield.
But when the sun is shining and the salt is dry/hard, there is NO better time for putting up NA Gas numbers.
'Nuf said?
Jim
P.S. To ALL our fans out there (that's, both of you, okay?) we're on for both WF and Cooks' Shoe Tout.
