Speedweek 2010
« on: February 06, 2010, 11:57:36 AM »
I have started a new thread in order to consolidate all news, info and questions regarding this year's Speedweek event.

I'll start. As a result of the BNI board meeting last night the following was decided:

No more black line on the salt- no increase in entry fees.
After revewing the outraegeous raise in marking oil prices for the last 2 years and reviewing enviormental concerns, the BNI voted to suspend laying the black line on the salt for Speedweek. BNI Chairman Creel stated ' We will use the same system of signs and Orange bag  markers that have proven sucessfull at World Finals for several years. The savings will allow us to defer raising entry fees for 2010 & 2011".

But, it was so much fun standing out there with your cone and jumping out of the way as the line truck roared by at 50 or 60 mph. Just won't be the same!

What about a bio-degradable black, blue or orange line? At BUB they used blue lines to mark the pit areas and staging area. Could the same stuff be used in the same truck to lay down a line?

SCTA uses bio degradable now, it's the extra high cost to get it done. It like doubled last year.
It's Al Gores fault.

I know it's a bio degradable oil, but what about a bio degradable dye you add to water?

It must be bio-degradable.  I know that the guys that bring the potties to us say the blue liquid concentrate barrels are labeled as "blue raspberry flavor".

"Blue Raspberry"- not after 7 days! Sounds like a good name for a race car or rock band.

I was afraid someone would think of that.  Don't worry -- most of the bruises and abrasions have long since healed.

Slim,
I have closed my eyes going past the markers but haven't hit one yet :-o I hope not to slow down the racing and hope never to hit one. Nice photo. I don't think Joe has a photo of his.
