Jon, Do you get to put little mile marker stickers on the side of your bike like the fighter planes did when they took out an enemy plane?

How old would you be now if you didn't know how old you are?
If you can't race it or take it to bed - it ain't worth having.

Doug, we sorta joked about that -- Joe Amo and I and a car guy that's hit one, too.  Let's see, what would the graphic look like?  Got any ideas?

I was the first one to talk to Joe at the end of his run.  Went out to help him get the bike over to the return road -- he was a little short (no pun intended).  He told me he went "thru the four".  I said "of course you did, we're at the six."  Took me a while to get what he was saying.

Jon, may be you remember that I got the idea to found a mile marker club - Roger Schroer and Sam Wheeler would be also a member......

By the way - I'm working on a graphic for this.................

If anyone can come up with a fantastic decal, it would be you Pork Pie!!  Just don't make it too attractive, might make people want to join the club!  :-o   Oh, and I do believe Denis Manning's driver, Chris, would qualify too...he didn't hit the poles, but he did go thru them last year at the Shootout!!

I just got a photo of the 2 mile marker that Sam blew through.  I don't know Roger Schroer.  Care to fill us in, PP?

As for a little sticker -- sure, I'd put it on my bike.  Hey -- maybe with our new laser engraving business I can turn that graphic of yours, PP, into a dash plaque.  How cool would that be - when the vehicle is on display someplace in a show and the passers-by ask "What's this mean?" and we could say "Oh, that's a reminder of when I hit a mile marker at XXX miles per hour."

Roger done it a run before he set the electric FIA record with the Buckeye Bullet I - the battery streamliner - he damaged a little bit the nose but could run again for the record.
Only the timelight needs a while to recover.

By the way - Jon - could you get me this picture from Sam's visit marker......thanks in advance

Don Ferguson drove through one in his streamliner as well last year. Tore it down the middle just like Sam did. Good thing the vehicles are low enough to go under the top bar. They presented it to him in impound after they verified his record over 300.

Regular car batteries used to be at the flags to power the photo cells. Ed Tradup hit one at WOS in "88".
Tore about a 10 hole in the side of the car. Won't do that again thank you. New body had a decal depicting a battery in a circle with a slash through it.

When they used the regular type 24 batterys we also had a wood stake pounded into the salt or a large fiber glass cone with a 1-1/2" X 12" long photo cell. They were heavy and hard to keep fully charged so we had to change them almost daily. Took them to the motel and charged them. Sure glad for the modern stuff.

Guys - Don't want to sound like a spoil sport BUT is this something to be proud of?? Same holds for Spins Stickers ( I have one to my "credit") but damned if was happy about it. Only one I know that seems to enjoy the wasted run is a certain street roadster/highboy driver. - Pat :-o

We should let this thread back to what Dan Started it for. Let's take the chatter some where else.
I am guilty as well. OK Dan, it's yours.

I just reread the original post, I was a little concerned about not having the black lines to guide me, and now you tell me there weren't any lines at World Finals. I never missed them. :-D
