Yeah, here's Bub information. I'll post this now and give you photos in a little while.
Chris said that the troubles started at the end of the run. He popped the pilot chute out and was slowing okay. Doesn't deploy the main 'til the bike slows, and when it was slow enough -- the controls were dead. He slowed with the pilot 'til about 60 mph, trying to shift down to slow down -- but the trans doesn't let him get away with it. Finally got down to about 60, put down the skids, and leaned over onto the right skid and slowed. He stood on the brakes -- but not 'til the bike was slow enough that the brakes wouldn't overheat.
Once stopped the fire crew was there and sprayed powder. Chris did not actuate the on-board system, but there was a fire in the engine area. Apparently there was an oil leak (first gues, investigation going on, I've got a few photos) that sprayed oil (again - my gues from overhearing) and that caught fire in the engine area.
The fire did not damage the chute -- the fire dameged the controls so the chute couldn't be deployed.
Post now and keep typing and I'll give you some photos. Crappy out of focus -- the camera is cranky this morning. Some are good -- I'll try to get better ones. The close up of the turbo shows the line that is suspected of having failed.
