Wow, I just saw the this post is number 3000. Sure been a great way to enjoy LSR and meet new people. The web site and our weekly chat line has opened up the world for people to be introduced to what we love. It gets better everyday. Every one have a safe trip home. Those going to the world of speed have a safe and record breaking meet. The same for the Maxton bunch on the other coast. :-)

More Sam Wheeler stuff:
...
The engine and all systems except that water pump are fine, with no reason not to make another run right now -- other than the exhaust stream is so hot without that cooler that it's damaging the bodywork.  Here's a photo, I hope I hope.  You can see the damaged plastic, the bad tape, the plastic covering over the body -- all showing heat damage:
Excellent to hear the wheel went well. I knew they were spraying water on the chain, but had no idea they were using it as some kind of exhaust system cooler too  :-o  Do you know if this water is somehow circulated or if it's captured for just that run or is it a total loss system tha'ts plenty clear of the rear wheel?

...can't find her or anyone to ask about that top speed of the meet issue.
Guessing at this point, that will be Denis and Chris #7  :-D

Sounds like there's a good chance Leslie has the fastest sit on (openwheeled bike) speed for the meet though.
On top of still holding the fastest record on 2 wheels of any female in the world as well.

Todd

SLIM

Still trying to find out if Wink Eller made it there and got to run- and what may have happened to his porposed partnership with Valerie Thompson to ride his bike.....
Thanks for the great info -
also - did Dale Gullett get any runs in today - saw he got a 171.+ yesterday, and don't know if it was on the bottle or not....

Okay, first of all -- Leslie Porterfield has the fast sit-on run of the meet, at 240 and a bit.  She was pretty excited and didn't remember the numbers to the right of the decimal when Nancy and I found her going to impound.  She's hoping to get in one more run.

Kiriakai:

Just talked with Dale in impound.  He got another record on the bike, even though the bottle was just about empty.  He did do okay with spray, though.

As for Wink -- yesterday he told me the story of Ray (wasn't that him) hitting the timing light and hurthing the front wheel, so they swapped parts from the old bike to the new one - and Wink was going to ride it.  Just now the bike is in impound (I saw it -- didn't talk with them, sorry) and was being torn down for measuring - so that tells me that somebody did well.

Slim

FYI - Just before Speed Week (August 1) the Valerie Thompson Blog had a full page release - that showed the bike, the Cliff Gullett Memorial Sticker and a picture of Wink and Valerie - It said that she was to pilot the bole at BUB - She apparently has two records, and is currently the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcylce Rider and races for Team Marines in the NHRA.

Congrats to Leslie, if she got the meet record for sit-on rider.....

If he and wink are in impound, have they made both passes or do they have to clear impound and rerun.... and is the bike in impound winks bike or the parts of his bike on another bike.....

your info is great and i will be Pay-Pal-ing my appreciation and that of Team Bozeman Motorsports....
As you all know, today is the anniversary of losing Cliff, so it is a tought day here in Bozeman.

Well, the meet is over, and in impound right now they're serving Swiss chocolates and chilled wine to all of the officials, except the FIM fellow -- he's getting crackers and warm water.

Kiriakai, I am sure Cliff was watching from above and is proud of his family and all that were on the salt.
