George Poteet is suiting up at the 12 mile.  Winds are high again -- about 10-12 -- but straight down the track.  Speed Demon chase/return truck is about at the 2.

Thanks for the updates SSS.  I'll be getting a check off to you, or better yet, what's your PayPal info?

You best bet there's a few watching to see what the Bub machine will do.  So far nothing has changed from the record Rocky set last year.

Speed Demon is under way.  Tearing the salt says Mike Cook -- I think that's a good thing, though. . .

Through nine, hauling Acura (Dan Warner says).

Entry:

434 MPH!

436 kilo 435 mile

WOW SH*T!

Speed Demon in the pit -- George drove in and parked on the tarp just like he was practicing -- not finishing a 435 mph run.  The generator is started, they're wrenching, gotta make the return run complete in about another 52 minutes.
\

Glen, I'll get a class for you in a while.

Speeds:

Entry:    434.252

Kilo:      436.067

Mile:     435.685

Exit:    435.868

Okay -- if it were running SCTA it's be D/BFS, but all the FIA needs is  299 cu in -- making it in the 3 - 5 liter blown class.  The car is on alky -- FIA doesn't differentiate fuel/gas, doesn't care if it's a 'liner or a roadster.  I don't think aroadster would go 435, though.

I guess I'd better suggest that you folks out there in internet land -- I'll try to minimise the number of fresh posts -- so use your refresh button -- I often modify an existing post (like I've done three times already on the post with the Speed Demon photos).

Poteet and Main putting spark plugs in the motor now -- getting ready for the return run.   They've got 15 minutes of work left to do -- have 38 minutes yet to finish the run.

You shoulda seen the ring-tailed chute lines -- spun about a zillion times.  All straightened out -- although they lost the pilot chute.  It's been retrieved and returned to the car -- back in and ready for another run.

I'm at the West  Wendover Welcome center.  30 minute access only  Bought a buncha insect killer/flypaper.

Here's a crude map of the course.  The red is the "extension" that's being used, the green areas are the pit locations...more or less.

Looking thru the pit area toward the freeway end, mile 0.  Snowmobile team (Lamtrac) on the left, OSU on the right.

Looking downcourse toward Floating Mountain.

That's it.  Btw, I don't have the time to respond to PMs.  All info will be posted in this thread.

20 minutes remaining on theSpeed Demon return run effort.  They're wrenching in the pits -- know how much time remains.

Okay -- they're having some minor issues -- spark plug wire is pinched, head gasket issue -- won't crank start, so they're going to push start the car.

Main is in the push truck behind the car in the pit -- starting to move it ahead.  This oughta be fun!
