We ran the Short Course Saturday to get our driver, Willie Martin, an upgrade to the 200 MPH "A" license. He did set a record of sorts -- the odometer read the 4 miles it took to get to the 3. High speed of 180 near as we could tell. His nickname is Guard Rail Willie because of certain street problems. From what Bill Lattin, who followed him down the course, told me the next morning, he would have earned that name on the salt if it had guard rails. Why it didn't spin, I have no idea.
Talked to Jim Dincau yesterday. His beautiful blue 27 Street Roadster (in F, I think) has wheel speed sensors in it. It read 140 for the front tires and 168 for the rears before it spun on the Short coarse Course.
