Has anyone written a letter or Tweeted the POTUS. Some are shocked when they get a direct response from him.

"Some are shocked when they get a direct response from him."

That's why the White House was closed for a few days -- to install a revolving door for the staffers.

The facts as I see them after years of talking to and reading from smart people like Tom Burkland, Sid, Russ Eyres, Vesco, Lessman etc. and observing the disappearing salt myself since the late 1980s:

1) No business or government entity is interested in bringing back our salt.

2) If we could stop the draining/mining of the salt completely (including sealing underground wells and aquifers) we still would need to lay down 20 Million tons of salt to restore/add a mere 1-inch layer of salt to the current racing surface.

3) #2 is highly unlikely to happen.

Those of you who read the book "Who  moved my cheese" (find a video summary on youtube here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16hxCB1Dvd4 )

You will just have to replace the word "cheese" with "salt" and start looking elsewhere to keep your sanity.
It's a sad reality, but it IS THE NEW REALITY.

A revealing perspective on the degradation of the Bonneville surface is provided by this quote from August 1949 Hot Rod Magazine, introducing racers to the inaugural SCTA event:

"It is absolutely smooth and level, with a very hard surface (a 20 penny spike can be driven into the ground and bent over without loosening the surface). Surface is pure white salt."

In that same issue an editor mentioned driving 10+ miles across a hard, smooth salt surface of Laguna Del Perro in New Mexico. But apparently it's no longer in such condition?
